Your choices are... Aluminum Aluminum is a common industrial conduit with good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation. There are three types of fiberglass conduit: standard, XW type, and phenolic. Standard is for basic industrial applications; XW type is used in Class 1 Division 2 applications, and phenolic are used in high temperature electrical applications.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a widely used material that has good flexibility, a smooth surface, and nontoxic qualities. Some grades are used in food and chemical processes due to the inert nature of PVC. Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is a grade of PVC engineered to withstand higher temperatures than standard PVC.

PVC Coated Aluminum PVC Coated Steel Nylon Polyester

Aluminum is coated with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Any steel grade with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coating. Nylon grades, such as 6/6, can offer flexibility and good water resistance. Polyester is a family of grades of thermoplastics with good toughness and sometimes high flexibility. Polyethylene or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a light, tough plastic with excellent corrosion resistance and good water barrier qualities. Basic multipurpose steel conduit. Galvanized steel has a protective coating of zinc for resistance against corrosion. Galvanized coatings are rated by their weight and carry designations such G30, G60, and G90. Heavier coatings generally provide higher corrosion resistance. Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant and can have relatively high pressure ratings; this selection includes all grades of stainless steel. Polyurethane or urethane refers a diverse class of materials exhibiting good elongation, recovery, and toughness properties. They are flexible and have good abrasion resistance, and urethane coated metals are used in conduit for many applications. (NOTE: The urethanes of the plastics industry are so named because the repeating units of their structures resemble the chemical urethane.) Other unlisted, proprietary or specialized material. Features Your choices are... Rigid Conduit Flexible Conduit Rigid conduits maintain straightness and stiffness. They are not meant to be bent. Flexible conduits are constructed of material that can be field bent or aligned for ease of installation. Conduit is rated to withstand severe conditions of heat, flame, explosion, etc. Fire alarm conduit frequently has special ratings and color coding and labeling to signify its importance in building safety. Conduit with appropriate wire or cable already installed in the conduit. The conduit is designed and constructed for underground application. Materials, construction, and seals are designed to prevent any ingress of water or other liquids. Magnetic shielding attenuates magnetic fields to protect sensitive equipment, such as computers.

Type

Your choices are... IMC Intermediate metal conduit (IMC) has rigid circular raceways with thinner walls than rigid metal conduits (RMC), but the same outside diameter. Rigid metal conduit (RMC) is thicker-walled and therefore heavier than intermediate metal conduits (IMC), with the same O.D. Galvanized rigid conduit (GRC) is metal conduit that has been coated with zinc, and often other agents, to increase resistance to abrasion and corrosion. Flexible metal conduit (FMC) has a helically-wound circular wireway, often used at the end of a rigid run to accommodate for machinery positioning or orientation. Liquid tight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) is constructed as flexible metal conduit (FMC) with a liquid tight plastic covering over the flexible metal core. Rigid nonmetallic conduit (RNC) is made from different types of plastics and is typically for areas that are wet or corrosive. Nonmetallic underground conduit with connectors (NUCC) is somewhat flexible, corrosion-resistant, and contains the electrical conductors factory installed inside the conduit. They may be supplied in reels for field installation, and constructed to be tough enough to withstand the stresses of field placement. Liquid tight flexible nonmetallic conduit (LFNC) features a liquid-tight jacket over an inner flexible, nonmetallic core. They may be reinforced or corrugated to improve strength. Electrical metallic tubing (EMT) has a circular wireway with much more workable properties than intermediate metal conduits (IMC), or rigid metal conduit (RMC). They may be cut, formed, and bent more easily. Electrical nonmetallic tubing (ENT) is a circular, corrugated wireway typically made from PVC. Unlisted, proprietary, or specialized class of conduit.
