My design practice has a focus on image design, working with type as image, hand drawn or digital illustration and pattern design. My work is mainly produced for print and so the nal presentation of a piece, including stock choices and the use of print nishes, is an important aspect of my design. The work I create and apply my imagery to has a strong focus on branding, as well as packaging and publication design. As well as my love for print, I am also interested in website design. I am well organised, enthusiastic, determined and reliable and I am always looking to learn new skills as I strive for personal development. I am driven by problem solving and creating interesting, innovative concepts to make my work stand out. The briefs I have completed for this module have allowed me to work on previous targets that I have set myself, identied after evaluating the last module. For example, I wanted to gain more experience of live work, as well as working on collaborative briefs, so I made this my priority. I have also worked on developing existing skills, such as publication and packaging design, and gained new skills, in particular, website design. Continuous weekly evaluation has allowed me to monitor my progress throughout the module. The work I have produced for this module is evidence of the development and improvement of my design practice, helping to give me condence in my skills and to prepare me for life after BAGD.

Brief 7 Leeds College of Art Pitches (Prospectus & Fashion) Design Context Visual Genius Title Statement of intent Project File Evaluation Title and Brief Summary include a short rationale for each brief identifying why you chose it, what was the focus of the brief and how long you spent on it. Design Visual Genius Context

Rationale A research based brief exploring my design interests and inuences, with a focus on design for publication. I chose to create a detailed book with examples of designers that have helped to inspire me during my time on BAGD. The actual design of the publication took under a week, but collecting the research was a task that I worked on throughout FMP.

BRIEF 1 Live Branding Brief (LRP)

Rationale A live investigation of branding and identity with a focus on both design for web and for printed promotional materials. This has been my most signicant brief, running throughout the whole module, and taking up around four weeks of FMP. I chose this brief as I wanted to improve my branding skills, and apply a brand identity to publications and packaging. I also wanted the chance to learn a new skill, which is website design. I created a brand identity for a surface pattern designer because I want more live experience of dealing with clients and professional printers to prepare me for future work.

BRIEF 2 Collaboration (Geek Table Collective)

Rationale A live investigation of my own design practice with a collaborative element, focusing on publication design and promotional material. This brief involved forming a graphic design collective, with the aim of completing mini briefs, and contacting studios to make promote ourselves. This collaborative brief has been running throughout FMP, with weekly meetings and tasks. I chose to work on this brief, as I wanted motivation to help me to create something to send to studios to help me network, as well as wanting the opportunity to work with other designers. I spent a day on each mini brief, and a week working with Baljeet Kaur Samra to produce a Geek Table publication and other promotional items.

BRIEF 3 Batiste * Dropped Brief *

Rationale A competition brief lead investigation of packaging and promotion with a focus on designing for a female audience. I chose this brief due to an interest in Graphic Design packaging, especially for the beauty industry. I spent a week collecting research for this brief, however, after feeling less motivated with this brief than any other, and having the opportunity to complete live briefs that I felt more excited about, I dropped this brief.

BRIEF 4 Live Branding Brief (NFB)

Rationale A live investigation of branding and identity with a focus on graphic design for fashion, applied to packaging, promotional material and publication design. I created a brand identity for a fashion print surface pattern designer because of my interests in graphic design for fashion, and because I needed experience of dealing with clients and professional printers to prepare me for future work. I worked on this brief throughout the module, spending around three weeks in total.

BRIEF 5 Collaboration (Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Yearbook)

Rationale A collaborative investigation of publishing and editorial design with a focus on promoting the LCA Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern degree, and the work produced on it. I worked with Kirsty Alderson, Kirsty Hardingham and Sophie Wilson to create the Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Yearbook because I wanted the experience of dealing with a real client, with a brief that allowed me to pursue my interests in publishing and editorial design. We worked on this brief throughout the module, attending meetings, collecting and organising content, and nalising the designs. I spent around three weeks in total on this brief, including the initial pitch for the Graphic Design yearbook.

BRIEF 6 Shop Re-brand (COW)

Rationale A skills driven investigation of branding and identity with a focus on how this can be applied to a variety of printed packaging and a website design. I created a brand identity and applied this to packaging and promotional material for an existing fashion store because I felt this is an opportunity to improve a variety of skills relevant to my design practice, such as branding, packaging, and design for screen. Having started this brief on my placement, I spent about four weeks on this brief, collecting researching, pitching ideas and designing print and screen deliverables.

BRIEF 7 Leeds College of Art Pitches (Prospectus & Fashion)

Rationale A live investigation of working towards a pitch with a focus on collaborative team work. I chose these briefs as I wanted to enter competition briefs to give me the chance of working on live briefs that would look good to include in my portfolio. 7A. Prospectus Concept Pitch A collaboration with Lisa Whitaker and Jamie Flear, featuring ideas for concept and design of the upcoming prospectus. I chose this brief as I thought this would be a great project to include in my portfolio if we were selected. We spent a week on this pitch. 7b. Graduate Fashion Branding Pitch As we had produced designs for this branding, but did not win the pitch, myself, Bethany Yates and Baljeet Kaur Samra, turned this into a brief, for a ctional fashion event, following the same brief, but changing the title to Leeds Graduate Fashion Week. I chose this brief as I am interested in Graphic Design for fashion, and so thought this would be a great brief to include if we were selected. We spent one week working on this pitch, and then a week afterwards developing the brief.
