Summary
Columns can negatively impact moly recovery when
There is potential for froth crowding by hydrophic non-molybdenum particles (bulk Cu/Mo circuits) They are sparged with air and the cleaner pH is uncontrolled (Cu/Mo separation circuits)

In most other cases, columns will offer superior cleaning performance because they
