Likearecord,atrack isaconcentric circularband around thedisk thatisdivided intopieshaped wedges called sectors.Morethan onesectorcomprisesacluster.Tokeeptrackoftheelectromagnetic chargesonthedisk,theoperating systemrecordsaseparatetable. MicrosoftWindowscallsthistableaFileAllocationTable (FAT)that servesasatableofcontents forthedisk,sotheread/writehead knowswheretostoreoraccessdata.
