vSpace Management Center Integration

vSpace 7 offers expanded management capabilities including integration with NComputings vSpace Management Center; a web-based remote management application that can manage devices across multiple physical locations.

USB Smartcard Reader Support

Session-specific Peripheral Access

vSpace 7 includes discrete, session-only access for a broader set of USB peripherals including Web Cams, USB Audio, USB Printers, and Serial devices (connected via USB adaptors).

Management Zone Functionality

vSpace 7 servers are capable of forming and joining Management Zones. Management Zones offer improved performance by allowing slave servers to offload certain management tasks to a master server, elected from among the vSpace 7 servers within the Zone. vSpace Management Center servers can also join a Zone and manage any vSpace 7 server or associated access device within that Zone. Management zones also offer redundancy capabilities by forming and distributing a unified database among all connected servers. For more information on configuring vSpace 7 servers to form and join Zones, review the following KB article: http://www.ncomputing.com/kb/HOW-TO-Configuring-vSpace-7-MasterSlave-Mode_401.html

Encrypted Management
All management communication conducted between vSpace 7 servers, access devices, and vSpace Management Center is fully encrypted using the SSL standard.

Delegated Administration
Included with vSpace 7 is the ability to create two levels of vSpace administrative access; read-only access and full administrative access.

Additional Notes and Errata Items:

Transitioning From vSpace 6 to vSpace 7
For deployments that are transitioning from vSpace 6 to vSpace 7 and have elected to update their old vSpace installations rather than use the clean install method, please refer to the following KB article: http://www.ncomputing.com/kb/HOW-TO-Updating-from-vSpace-6-tovSpace-7_405.html

vSpace Server 7 and vSpace Management Center Order of Installation

When deploying into an environment that will contain vSpace Server 7 and vSpace Management Center servers, it is important to install your vSpace Management Center servers first. If vSpace Management Center servers are introduced into a zone after vSpace 7 Servers are set up, any Device Profile or Server Group information saved on the vSpace 7 Servers will be overwritten.

vSpace Management Center Compatibility

vSpace Management Center version 3.2.29 or newer must be used in order to manage vSpace 7 servers and associated devices. Access devices must be using updated firmware (1.7 or newer for L300, 2.1 or newer for M300) to be visible and manageable by vSpace Management Center 3.2.29 and newer.

Server Group Creation

Server Group creation and management has been redesigned, and is now a feature of vSpace Server and vSpace Management Center only. Server Groups can no longer be created on the access device end.

Legacy L-series Devices

L130 and L230 access devices are not supported in vSpace 7. Users must connect using L300 or M300 access devices or vSpace Client.

Invalid IP During Slave Only Install

Installation may not complete successfully if an invalid IP address is entered for the vSpace 7 Master host during a Slave Only install and the Test Connection button is pressed. This only affects the Slave Only install method.

USB Audio Performance During Video Playback

A known issue may cause USB audio performance to degrade when browsing multimedia intensive websites or streaming video. This does not affect analog audio performance (using the speaker port on the access device).

Sessions Ended From vSpace Management Center

Sessions ended from a vSpace Management Center server may not be removed from the active sessions list correctly until they are removed locally from the vSpace 7 console.

vSpace 7 Server Reboots in Management Zones

In rare cases, a vSpace 7 server joined to a vSpace Management Center Zone may not be visible from vSpace Management Center after a reboot. A workaround for this issue can be found in the following KB article: http://www.ncomputing.com/kb/SOLUTION-vSpace-Server-NotDisplayed-Within-vSpace-Management-Center_403.html

USB Webcam Artifacting

In rare cases, slight video artifacting may be seen when displaying a webcam video stream. This is not persistent and should not occur frequently.

Duplicate Servers Displayed on Devices

In some situations, a vSpace server may be displayed repeatedly within the server list of access devices. This should not cause any performance or connectivity issues, as each instance of the server displayed will direct the access device to the correct server when selected.
