Develop a brief lesson designed to teach about some aspect of distance education. Lesson: Using Adobe Captivate in Training Overview 1. This lesson will introduce learners to an Adobe Captivate Web site and describe an Adobe Captivate basic features and functionalities. Learners will explore the practical applications of using an Adobe Captivate in distance learning, including the advantages and disadvantages of using an Adobe Captivate. Learners will also review examples of projects and collaborative works that can be developed on an Adobe Captivate and incorporated into distance learning. At the end of the lesson, learners will reflect on the best use of an Adobe Captivate for the type of distance learning activities they develop. Learning Goal The goal of this lesson is to introduce learners to an Adobe Captivate Web site, its basic features, and the practical applications of an Adobe Captivate in distance learning. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: 1. Explain the basic features of an Adobe Captivate. 2. Describe at least one advantage and one disadvantage of using an Adobe Captivate in distance learning. 3. Discuss how an Adobe Captivate can be incorporated into distance learning.

Technologies
SoftChalk Lesson Builder, an e-Learning authoring tool, will be used to develop the online lesson. The lesson will be hosted on a Web page. This software was selected because it can support text, images, audio and video content, interactive activities and quiz questions. Activities Activity What Is an Adobe Captivate? The learner will watch Introduction to Adobe Captivate, a YouTube video that summarizes how to use Adobe Captivate using a simplified, real world scenario. The learner will read about common problems that are encountered when using Adobe Captivate for collaborative work. Given a series of statements about an Adobe Captivate, the learner will identify if each statement is an advantage or a disadvantage of using an Adobe Captivate. The learner will read about a variety of methods that can be used to incorporate an Adobe Captivate into distance learning. The learner will reflect on the lesson and respond to a discussion prompt. Evaluation The lesson will be evaluated using the forms tool available in Google Docs. At the end of the lesson, a link to the online evaluation form will be provided, along with instructions for learners to complete the evaluation form. Questions 1 through 4 will use a 5-point Likert scale, rating the
lessons overall effectiveness and relevance of information, and the final question will be text entry field where learners can enter comments about the lesson
