QUANTUM PHYSICS is at the cutting edge of Western science and in many respects g oes way beyond Einstein's Theory

of Relativity. The interesting thing about quan tum physics is that the original impetus giving rise to it, namely the pursuit o f the elemental building blocks of the Universe (separate elementary particles) has become meaningless with the discovery that the Universe appears to be an und ivided Whole in a perpetual state of dynamic flux. Like Einstein's Theory of Relativity, Quantum Physics reveals the Universe to be a single gigantic field of energy in which matter is just a 'slowed down' form of energy. Further, Quantum Physics has discovered that matter/energy does not e xist with any certainty in definite places, but rather shows 'tendencies' to exi st. (i.e. the 'Uncertainty Principle') Even more intriguing is the notion that t he existence of an observer is fundamental to the existence of the Universe - a concept known as 'The Observer Effect' - implying that the Universe is a product of consciousness. (i.e. the Mind of God) 1 For more on this subject see: 'The Observer Effect' by Alex Paterson As American physicist, Barbara Brennan, states in her book 'The Hands of Light': "Through experiments over the past few decades physicists have discovered matter to be completely mutable into other particles or energy and vice-versa and on a subatomic level, matter does not exist with certainty in definite places, but r ather shows 'tendencies' to exist. Quantum physics is beginning to realise that the Universe appears to be a dynamic web of interconnected and inseparable energ y patterns. If the universe is indeed composed of such a web, there is logically no such thing as a part. This implies we are not separated parts of a whole but rather we are the Whole." 2 Quantum Physicist, Dr David Bohm goes further in his book 'The Implicate Order' in which he states that "primary physical laws cannot be discovered by a science that attempts to break the world into its parts." 3 Yet this is the exact methodology of contemporary Western science which still ta ught in most of our educational institutions today. Bohm writes of an "implicate enfolded order" which exists in an un-manifested st ate and which is the foundation upon which all manifest reality rests. Bohm call s this manifest reality "the explicate unfolded order". Bohm goes on to say "par ts are seen to be in immediate connection, in which their dynamical relationship s depend in an irreducible way on the state of the whole system . . . Thus, one is led to a new notion of unbroken wholeness which denies the classical idea of analyzability of the world into separately and independently existent parts." 4 The 'rules' of the Universe seem to change reflect the 'maths'. In other words, the mathematical formulas that were initially developed to describe the behaviou r of universe turn out to govern the behaviour of the universe. Thus, if the mat hs is manipulated to produce some absurd result, the matter and energy somehow c hanges to behave in exactly that absurd manner to reflect the formula! As Nick H erbert in his book 'Quantum Reality' puts it, "Whatever the math does on paper, the quantum stuff does in the outside world." 5 Ross Rhodes elaborates on this point in his article 'A World with a View' in whi ch he says: "It is as though you could create a good offense in a football game -- send the tight end racing down the sidelines and across the goal line -- by c hanging the numbers on the scoreboard. We are accustomed to thinking that the sc oreboard describes and tallies the action on the field; in this analogy, we find that the action on the field is produced by the changing numbers on the scorebo ard. And this does not make any sense to us, because in our current world view t

he numbers are just symbols representing something with independent existence." 6 Quantum theory describes the world perfectly - To quote Ross Rhodes: "so perfect ly that its symbolic, mathematical predictions always prevail over physical insi ght and so called 'common sense'. The equivalence between quantum symbolism and universal reality must be more than an oddity - in fact it clearly implies that quantum symbolism is the nature of reality." Ross Rhodes 'A World with a View' Of course, all these notions completely contradict the understanding of reality held by most humans, whose perception of reality is still based upon Newtonian P hysics, if only because Newtonian Physics seems to describe the Universe so well at a macro level. (but not on a micro level such as sub atomic 'particles' etc. ) For more on Newtonian Physics see: 'Newtonian Physics' by Alex Paterson Non-Locality is defined as phenomenon that occurrences on one side of the Univer se can instantly effect 'matter' on the other side of the Universe. Non-locality has profound implications for the prevailing world view of reality in that it c learly demonstrates the inter-connectedness between all matter in the Physical U niverse and the illusory nature of Space and Time, something that those who have had some sort of deep spiritual experience are already well aware of. NOTE: For an excellent introduction to Quantum Physics and non-locality in layme n's terms see: 'A World with a View' by Ross Rhodes 'A Cybernetic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics' by Ross Rhodes CONCLUSION The recent findings of Quantum Physics (especially Dr Bohm's work) about the uni verse being made up of an "interconnected unbroken wholeness", examples of Non-L ocality phenomena (Bells Theorem) and the 'Observer Effect' implying that consci ousness underlies all reality, has striking parallels with the ancient Esoteric concept that all reality is the manifestation of an infinite Singularity (creati ve principle) which I personally choose to call Source, and most others call God . However, none of this is surprising to those who have experienced the 'Oneness ' associated with some sort of deep spiritual experience or holotropic state. 7
