President VOW to Hire Heroes

Veterans Served Time & Country Heroes Locked Up

President Obama has declared all veterans as heroes. A population has been locked up in prison. They have served their time and wish to re-enter our society. VOW is committed to retraining veterans that have been made homeless due to lack of employment.

Prison Release
Any veteran that has served his or her jail sentence time in full, plus has earned a DD214 honorable discharge from our United States Armed Forces, should be entitled to work on a job without fear of harassment among co-workers.

On-the-job Gossip
Girl let me tell you what so and so has been convicted of. On-the-job gossip is a social type of harassment that isnt conducive for productivity in the workplace. It makes persons feel self-conscious. The atmosphere becomes uncomfortable for work.

VOW To Hire Heroes (Veterans Retraining Assistance Program) VOW To Hire Heroes
Vow to hire heroes also known as the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP) is joint initiative among Veterans Affairs and the Department of Labor to secure employment for unemployed veterans between 35 and 60 years of age.

Retraining Veterans
VRAP is designed to retrain disabled veterans that suffer social disabilities (unemployment or homelessness). Veterans receive funds for education much like the Montgomery GI Bill extended education funds for physical or mental rehabilitation disabilities.

VOW Card
A VOW card is a new idea that will require employers to waive criminal background checks for veterans that have honorable discharges from any branch of military service. The idea is to show veterans how much we love their services to our nation.

Tennessee State Lawmakers Should enact VOW Cards VOW Cards

Tennessee State Lawmakers should enact VOW Cards be issued to ex-convicted felons who have served in our military and received honorable discharges. To qualify eligibility he or she must have completed his or her sentence in full. The VOW card will open the door for re-entry to work.

DD214 Certifies Status

DD214 is the official military document that certifies the legal discharge status of service members. Each veteran has a DD214 and/or may obtain a duplicate copy at ebenefits.gov. DD214 is the most widely accepted military document in the United States.

Job Market Frustration

The job market is highly frustrating. It is easy for ex-convicted veterans to give up. Employers that desire to participate with VOW to hire heroes may accept his or her Vow card and recognize that the court has cleared him or her of charges and he or she is eligible for gainful employment.

Fight for the Right to Work

Each veteran should fight for the right to work on a job in the State of Tennessee without fear of harassment or intimidation by co-workers. His or her service to our nation has made it possible for citizens to enjoy his or her freedoms in our great nation.

OCSVA Petition Drive

OCSVA board of directors has commenced an official petition drive to collect signatures among our veteran community. This is the first time in the history of America that a petition drive is dedicated to support legal help for veterans. We have collected signatures from only veterans. Our goal is to collect at least a thousand signatures. Thus far we collected ten percent (100).

Street Panhandling
Often times we see homeless veterans panhandling on city street corners and wonder how he or she has gotten in such bad condition. The majority have felony records and cant work. The end result is our heroes end up homeless.

Off City Streets Veterans Association (OCSVA) Incarcerated Veterans

OCSVA is the first and only nonprofit 501c19 veterans organization in the United States dedicated to the mission of rescuing men and women who have been released from incarceration. Most states have denied expunging felony records. The latter has increased the unemployment rate and recidivism rate of high imprisonment.

Voting Rights
It is incomprehensible that state lawmakers have stripped ex-convicted veterans of American citizenship and disenfranchised his or her legal voting rights. The latter is an infringement of our 14th &15th Amendments. Our staff will devote our resources to restore the legal voting rights of veterans that have been released from incarceration.
