First and Foremost> Hotel Akshaya (0.01km from GL): Nice place to have a beer or two in the evening, Chilly chicken is good... Food used to be bad here but they had hired a new chef and few Spartans told me that the food in Akshaya is good... Anupuram (4 kms from GL): Anupuram is the township near great lakes. This place is good for early morning walking, jogging. There is a tennis court also inside. More Super market is also there. 1) Hot Chapathis and Chat Pure veg, North indian food. Parathas, Aloo, Gobi Panneer Manchuran available. Cheap and very tasty but they will take lot of time to cook. 2) Parotta shop near the junction Kothu parotta, Omlette, Dosai available... Cheap and best south indian food.. best place for southies 3) More Supermarket (Sri Sai Caterers) - They provide door delivery More of a fast food. Chicken dishes available all days. Mutton and Fish available only sundays. ( Go to the park near this fast food, you can relax and enjoy in the park) Anupuram also has 3 or 4 bakeries and few fruit stalls... [aside] There are 2 barber shops in Anupuram which the Spartans frequent... Vengambakkam (Vignesh Fast food) (4 kms from GL) towards pondy They will close at 9:30 but chettinad chicken is good here. Breakfast also available. Fried Fish and Muttai Dosa are also good. Kalpakkam: (10 kms from GL) 1) Moongilkottai: Authentic south indian dishes. Best restaurant for south indians. They have tandoori also. value for money, awesome tandoori chicken, kardai chkn and biryani wid express service. Nethali Fry and Fish curry is good when it is available. 2) Archana Restaurant: Pure veg restaurant inside Kalpakkam Township. [aside] Kalpakkam is a big town and you can get most of the things that you need over there. There is a post office and courier centers too. Check out the Kalpakkam swimming pool a well maintained and the rate is very cheap too (Rs.30 per hour). Kalpakkam beach will be very clean and you can go there from the Kalpakkam bridge.. we used to play Ultimate Frisbee in Kalpakkam beach... Mahabalipuram: (12 kms from GL) 1) Sea Breeze (Good food but costly) 2) Moonrakers (Average food, but prawns are too good. For hard core sea food lovers- Masala Fried Fish, Mixed FRIED Noodles and Golden Fried Calamary is good) 3) Sunrise (Next to Sea Shore Temple, Super restaurant with wonderful food) - You can take your own liquor along and have it there. If you're going with a big gang, call the guy in advance and give him an estimate/place your order so that he has enough to serve all of you. 4) Le Yogi (Nice Dessert - Pancake with Nutella, Banana etc) - Sizzlers are great!

Door delivery for Rs.500 and above) 16) Saabras (opposite Othavadai street they give huge amount of chicken and very tasty too) - If you are a North Indian, there is no other place you would rather be! Pondicherry (90kms from GL :P ) Dominos pizza - Vettuvanganni (40 kms from GL) in ECR. Choca-la (Brilliant hot chocolate, caramel pudding) - http://www.ebonyfoods.in/ Hi-Design cafe (above hi design leather shop) - Good Burgers + Pasta+white chocolate Satsang (near Le Cafe) - One of the best places to eat! Everything is top notch, especially the Crepes! Le Cafe - One of the most expensive places in town, good food and choice of liquor. Must try the Chocolate Mousse! De Bussy Restaurant - *This place is only for guys!* Shady place with excellent choice of beer and non-veg food. Must try chilly beef and pork! L'Espace (Near Pizza Hut) - Good resto bar kinda place after 8pm. They only serve cocktails and snacks (things like pasta, eggs etc.).
