Dear Friend, Greetings on this beautiful summer day from everyone at our church. The Lord is moving by His Spirit, speaking to people's hearts and preparing us for our eternal home! Jesus told us in His Word that He would build His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church! If you are being plagued by the things of this world (and who isn't?), then let me tell you: if you become a part of His church those things may come but they will not prevail! Did you know that the Lord loves the church more than all the dwelling places of people? We have TV.'s and computers and vacation spots and carnivals and cook-outs and weddings and parties, but the Lord many times is not invited there. He would blush if He went to some of the beaches He created! But one thing He does have is the church! The church has been His desire from the beginning of time because it is there we are transformed into His image. It is there we hear His Word and drink in His presence and encourage each other to walk with God. It is there we hear what pleases Him and what doesn't. This is very important! We learn of His righteousness there and know he hears the case against us, judges it and if we are honest and truthfully sorry for our sins He forgives! The penalty was paid for our sin when Jesus died on the cross. We have had some wonderful meetings lately. Recently at a prayer meeting the people gathered to pray for the needs of the people. Everyone entered in to the Spirit and when they prayed it was just like Bible days! You could almost feel the place shaken with the power of God! This is what our communities and our America needs: when God's people humble themselves and seek the face of God together and turn from their wicked ways, God will move! Those who prayed with the apostles came out of their prayer meetings "...of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all" (Acts 4:32 & 33). This only comes when we pray. It comes no other way. It's exciting to spend time with Jesus and with other people of like precious faith. There is no telling what God will do. Prayer makes God the Lord of your life. When He is Lord He is

able to do exceeding abundantly above all you can ask or think! Those who prayed that night came out glowing, full of His Spirit and love. Some even said they felt new! Everything was new to them because they prayed! Let me encourage you to spend time in prayer: you will never be the same! There is a power to prayer. Everything we do must be accompanied with prayer. When Jesus was baptized something happened to Him because He prayed. "Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him..." (Luke 3:21 & 22). Prayer is something we all can do. Even if you cannot get out of bed, you can pray and have answers from God! Even if you cannot speak or don't know what to say if you can, God hears the prayers in your heart! There was a man in Jesus' day that was sick of the palsy and the Lord healed him! (Matthew 9). I also read in the book of Acts a man was healed through Peter's ministry who had been bed-ridden for 8 years. God knows where you are and He hears your prayers. There is no reason for you to wonder if God hears the prayers from your heart: He does! So let's join our faith together and pray for the needs of people everywhere. We know the Lord will hear and answer on their behalf! Jesus told His disciples, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them" (Mark 11:24). I believe the Lord knows what He is doing and I give Him these burdens and cares and every situation. He will answer His way in His time. My task is to have faith in Him and He will answer! I hope this newsletter sparked you to get back to praying if you've let it slip, and to strengthen you if you've been praying all along. Remember, the Scripture says, "Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen" (Ephesians 3:20 & 21). Let me invite you to our church services. We meet at 624 Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT.
