APGENCO, VIJAYWADA - SUPPLY OF STACKER RECLAIMER

Adding another feather to its cap, TRF Ltd has bagged an order from BGR Energy for the supply of Stacker Reclaimer on a turnkey basis for the coal handling plant of APGENCO, Vijaywada. The project entails designing, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, erection, testing, commissioning and load trials of the Stacker Reclaimer. Having a stacking and reclaiming capacity of 1200 TPH and 1000 TPH, respectively, the machine has already been commissioned and load trials underway. While its boom length is 29 metres, the major drives types comprise VVVF drives for bucket wheel, slew and travel. What makes this achievement more commendable is that TRF got this order against stiff competition from companies which are also well known for manufacturing Stacker Reclaimers. APGENCO was visibly impressed by the Stacker Reclaimer, which TRF had supplied to the Kothagudam Thermal Power Station. Also, its reference list of similar machines stood it in good stead. This business deal will open up more avenues for TRF for the supply of material handling equipment, including Stacker Reclaimers, as many power plants are in the offing. Incidentally, TRF is also supplying a Stacker Reclaimer to the APGENCO plant at Kakatiya. NSPCL, BHILAI, CHATTISGARH- EMPOWERING THE NATION

TRF has played a major role at a power project between National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) at Bhilai, Chhattisgarh for setting up a- 2 X 250 MW power plant. The plant is a joint venture between NTPC and SAIL. Mood at the TRF?s NSPCL-Bhilai site office is upbeat. Confidence exudes from the fact that the project is nearing completion. Most of the equipment has been supplied and their installation complete or close to it. The scope of the work involves: Setting up a coal handling plant for a-2X250 MW coal fired power plant for NSCPL, a joint venture between NTPC and SAIL. Complete civil work, fabrication and erection of building and technological structural and equipment supply, erection, testing and commissioning. Civil work involves approximate 30,000 cubic meters concrete and building structural approximately 3800 MT. Supply and installation of Rotary Plough Feeder (04), Stacker Re-claimer(01), Wagon Tippler with Side Arm Charger (01), Crusher R-33 (04), truflo feeders, belt feeders (06) and vibro feeders (all 01), Travelling Tippers (02) and a coal sampling system. Being a turn key order, TRF will supply all conveying equipment and undertake all electrical work. Setting up some utility systems for dust suppression, dust extraction, fire fighting and ventilation system. Radial Stacker re-claimer that will be set up by TRF has been supplied by Schade, Germany. This is the biggest ever Radial Stacker re-claimer made by Schade. It is approximately 700 MT machine, with central column as the axis, on which it rotates on a circular rail of 128 metres diameter. Wagon Tippler with hydraulic drive supplied here is the first of it's kind by TRF. Conveyor # 5 gallery is unique as it hangs from both ends from the drive house. In total, there are four transfer points, a drive house, crusher house and a sampling station. There are 16 conveyors.

TATA POWER: OPERATION & MAINTENANCE

TRF Ltd, Port and Yard Division (PYE) in pursuit of the aspirations laid down in Vision 2013, has decided to venture into a new business area. The PYE division received its first order from Tata Power for operation of a Stacker Reclaimer and associated conveyors, for a period of three years, extendable on mutual consent by another four years. The Stacker Reclaimer supplied by TRF to Tata Powers project in Trombay, Mumbai was commissioned in the month of November 2008. It has a capacity of 1500 TPH of stacking and reclaiming of coal of size 50 mm. It has a boom length of 41 mtrs. Radio Modem communication has been used in this machine, a first in India for such a large Stacker Reclaimer. While TRF has always maintained its own supplied machineries, it is for the first time, that it will also operate the equipment, supplied by it. Tata Power used to do its own operations and maintenance for major equipment on its own, while subcontracting the maintenance of auxilliaries. But, in this case, it required certain skill set and TRF, with its expertise and experience fitted the bill. TRF stands to gain considerably from this situation, as there is scope for revenue growth in operations. It would also serve as a learning experience for the company, helping to understand the problems/ shortfalls, faced by its machines, and then improve upon them for future projects.
