LVDT-Sensors transSENSOR
transSENSOR LVDT-Principle
Inductive displacement sensors using the LVDT-principle (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) consist of a primary and two secondary coils with a common movable magnetic core. An oscillator electronics excites the primary coil with an alternating current of constant frequency. Consequently alternating currents are induced in both secondary coils with amplitudes depending on the core position. A displacement of the core yields a higher voltage in one secondary coil and a lower voltage in the opposite coil. The difference between both secondary voltages is proportional to the displacement.
Gaging sensors have a guided plunger. The probe is pushed against the target surface by a spring. Displacement sensors work with a free moving plunger without any mechanical contact to the sensor body. The plunger is fixed onto the target by a mounting thread.

Displacement sensors work with a free moving plunger without any mechanical contact to the sensor body. The plunger has to be fixed onto the target by a mounting thread. The measuring principle within the sensor is without contact and thus wear-free. Displacement sensors are mainly used for measurement and monitoring of movement, displacement, position, stroke, deflection, transposition, etc. in machines, vehicles and systems.

Gaging sensor models are equipped with a plunger gliding in a sliding-bearing. The probe is pushed against the target surface by means of a spring. The probe is mounted onto the plunger via a standard M2.5 thread. It can be easily exchanged with any other probe model. Gaging sensors are mainly used for dimensional inspection (length, width, diameter, thickness, depth, height, etc.).
