A Description of the class

Level : Intermediate Students between the ages of 15-16. The students are generally enthusiastic and eager to participate in the activities proposed by the teacher.

B Recent work
Students have acquired knowledge about different countries and touristic objectives. They have practised their reading skills. They have improved speaking and vocabulary skills related to traveling.

C Objectives
1. To create interest in the topic of holiday. 2. To use relevant words to the topic of holiday and weather forecast 3. To give useful advice for traveling. 4. Describe festivals and events. 5. To write a letter of complaint. 1

D Contents
Objective 1: (Estimated time : 10 minutes) (a) Context: Holiday destinations (b) Activity/class Discussion in groups of four. SS are asked to agree on ten objects which they would take with them on a holiday to the given destination. (c) Aids: Pictures. (d) Language: Holiday related vocabulary. (e) Possible problems: Students may not find the recquired number of objects.The teacher will give them suggestions.

Objective 2: (Estimated time : 10 minutes) (a) Context: Weather and destinations (b) Activity/class Students organised in groups of four are asked to choose a destination and to describe the weather accordingly. (c) Aids: Pictures from the textbook (d) Language: Weather and holiday (e) Possible problems: Students may not know the meanings of the words.Teacher will explain it to them.

Objective 3: (Estimated time : 10 minutes) (a) Context: Travellers Tips (b) Activity/class organisation Students will be asked to solve individually ex 7.a.,page 41.Then,working in pairs they will be asked to provide up to three extra tips. (c) Aids: The text; the expectations chart on the board. (d) Language: All and any (e) Possible problems: Students may not be able to provide the recquired number of tips.The teacher will provide an imaginary problematic situation to which the students will asked to provide a solution. Objective 4: (Estimated time : 10 minutes) (a) Context: Festivals and events (b) Activity/class In groups students have to mention when and how a festival takes place and motivate their choice of attending it or not. (c) Aids: None (d) Language:All and any (e) Possible problems: Students dont know any festival. Maybe they know all of them. 2

The teacher will be prompt and will mention a festival along with some details.The students will be asked to say wether he/She would like to participate to it and motivate their choice

Objective 5: (Estimated time :3 minutes) (a) Context: Complaints about holidays (b) Activity/class organisation The Ss are asked to imagine they have had problems at the hotel where they had spent their holiday and write a letter of complaint adressed to the manager. (c) Aids: textbook (d) Language:All and any (e) Possible problems: SS might not know much about writing a letter of complaint. Teacher will be prompt and will give a handout with a letter of complaint to serve them as a sample.

E Additional possibilities
1. Play hangman using holiday related vocabulary and given clues about the chosen word,if necessary as in Ex4 ,page 41. 2. Describe his/her perfect holiday destination.
