Executive Summary

The selected organization name is NAYYER GROUP. It is situated in Gujrat near Small Industrial Area (S.I.E Gujrat). Mr. Nayyer Hussain is considered to be the founder of Nayyer industry. It started its operations in 1974 at Gujrat. Established in 1974 and in the last 36 years it has become the leading manufacturer of following products in Pakistan and Dubai. There are two structure of organization that is hierarchal and flat structure. The Nayyer industry limited Gujrat has hierarchal structure. It has large number of departments, each good force and jobs are allocated to each department and independent and separately, headed by separate department head. There are few cases at Nayyer industry Gujrat where two or more departments are being headed by a single person. There is a long chain of command, each chain member having one or more sub-ordinates there are large number of level like resident director, general manager, managers, assistant managers, staff/supervisor/foreman, and workers. A very short spans of control each member having.

The vision of Nayyer industry is to become leading and trusted carpets provider.

History of the Organization

Mr. Nayyer Hussain is considered to be the founder of Nayyer Industry. It started its operations in 1974 at Gujrat. Established in 1974 and in the last 36 years it has become the leading manufacturer of following products in Pakistan and Dubai. After that they took the orders of making the carpets on large scale and this contract gave them a new passion to become a well-known organization in Pakistan. Within the years of its establishment it started nourshising at a remarkable pace and started meeting the order of different companies. Once the setup started increasing it was decided to open its retail outlet and wholesale depots throughout the country. Now the company has more than 300 retail outlets, more than 1500 dealers and 10 wholesale depots all over the world. The company had opened its own wholesale and retail shops all over the country, enlacing the consumers to buy carpets at fixed prices which were a new trend at that time. The company then took another step and entered into the export market realizing that the country was in dine head in foreign exchange. The exports were made on international standard and right delivery became the basis and hallmark of Nayyer and the same trend continues.

Competitors

Nayyer industry is the largest industry working in the country. It has captured most of the market in Pakistan and it is working to go abroad with its local brands. It has numbers of the brands which are well recognized in the country. The only main competitor of the Nayyer is Venus carpets and Olympia carpets but inspire of the fact they are not such reorganization as the Nayyer have. So, it can be Saud that Nayyer has monopoly in quality carpet. However we can include the following in our list Venus carpets (Karachi) Olympia carpets (LHR)

The residential area is the target market of Nayyer industry, and in residential area the allied class and the upper middle class are their target market.

Implication of Management Functions in Departments of the Organization

Organizations change is inevitable, because of this you'll most likely be involved in managing a change project at some point is it a simple change to the way your team deals such as customer complaints, or a major change in organizational policy or strategy. So, Appling this technique the firm is moving towards his owner plan step by step. As we all know there are basically four major areas of management functions are planning, leading, controlling and organization. The firm is a private firm and is only firm in the origin. As a single firm in the area it holds the complete market share of the area and a large amount of market share in the Pakistan. According to the General Manager of the firm we are not only serving with in Pakistan, more than of 50 percent of our produce products are exported outside the country. Offering this large number of features the company has to make a good strategy, implement it and the recheck the complete strategy, and understand the change in the marked as well. There is less competitors in the market for Nayyer carpets, but for maintaining a large number of customers and market is a difficult job and the company is doing the four major function of the management. As we know this is difficult in Pakistan to maintain all functions effectively, but we can say if they are not doing it effectively but doing it better than their close competitors. Thats why they are leading the market. According to the General Manager, the plans are made by the higher authority and impose the strategy to all the departments and the departments have to make it strategy good. Because, they have to implement their parts.

Strengths

Nayyer carpet is well known and established manufacturing entity in the Pakistan recognized by its quality products with a large variety of design and colors. By reviewing their strengths, I analyze their product as the biggest power they have with leading brands on a large scale of production controlled by strong management, expertise, qualified staff. Nayyer as a customer based organization has a strong market position with a number of sales channels not only in Pakistan but also on international level. Nayyer is a fasting growing organization with sound financial resources, technological skills and a key factor known as customers loyalty.

8.2.

Weaknesses

Weaknesses are those internal elements which causes to a deficiency in all kinds of operations including production, planning, organizing, working and running of a business. All the organizations must have the weakness with the internal strength of the organization, sometimes it happens that a factor which is considered to be strength may also falls in the category of a weakness. Likewise in Nayyer, I found it, financial resources, staff and market position as a weakness with the entity of strength. Because there is always a possibilities to decrease in financial resources which may results in inconsistent market position. Nayyer have not arranged training programs for the employees to create an awareness about the latest trends, business rules, current policies so it is also an internal weakness of the Nayyer to lose

the key staff, who have a strong hold or grip on the organization in all departments. Besides it there is also some weak points likes lack of new products which can cause other weaknesses such as low customer retention or customer dissatisfaction.

Opportunities

The opportunity is usually used to have a chance to get a benefit for the organization from external environment. Opportunities bring the positive change which are the most beneficial and valued for the firm. Nayyer also have the external opportunities to avail for their betterment and fast growth. They have the opportunity to expand their business by availing the funds from the different financial institutes, by acquiring the other firms and by having the vendors who are willing to invest their capital. The greatest opportunity for the firm is to sale out its own product through new distribution channels with low personal taxes. As it is stronger and established name in the production of carpets, it is also an external opportunity for the business that its competitors have low power to complete.

Threats

External threats make a firm weak in decision making process. It is most risky to make decision in uncertain and threatening environment. Threats are most harmful for business even sometimes firms came to shut down conditions due to these threats. Nayyer carpet industry is also facing so many external threats. In Pakistan it is much harder to establish a strong business entity in such a fluctuating economy. Inconsistent economy makes the market so risky for investment so it is also a hard task to avail external source of finance. Negative cash flow also a threat for the business which results in low amount of liquid assets. New technologies with day to day changes are not easy to acquire and implement. As today the world is so fast and more competitive so the threat of more competition is also faced by the Nayyer and this completion can make the volume of sales lower and low sale volume mean low profit. Political instability results in new governmental regulations and policies in trade are also threatening. It can also provide a possibility to close a geographic market. The most biggest and recent threat is power supply. A manufacturing firm which has a number of machinery and plants can be badly affected by this threat.

Conclusion

Nayyer carpet is the only carpet in the Pakistan of this kind, although they have some competitors named as Venus carpets Karachi and Olympia carpets Lahore. The company has good reputation in Pakistan market comparing to his close competitor. The company has to develop the training programs not only for the managers, higher employees but also for the labour to convert unskilled labour into skilled labour. As we all know the skilled labour is the competitive advantage for the company. Not only make the labour skilled but also make the motivated for their work and efficiency. The General Manager must have to follow the hierarchy to deliver the order to his subordinates not through his personal authority. The residential area is the target market of Nayyer industry, and in residential area the allied class and the upper middle class are their target market. The company should have to expand their target market not only in Pakistan but also focus outside the country where the demands of their products are high or they can make their demand in those areas. Adopt latest technology, because new technologies easy to acquire and implement changes with day to day routine. The company is not adopting change according to the technology is the company adopt latest technology then they can save more cost than they are saving right now. This might be the cause of the financial issues which the company is facing now a day.

10.0. Suggestion of Improvement


Build a research and development department for making their product better and better, which helps to build a competitor advantage over potential competitors. Control the treats, threats are most harmful for business even sometimes firms came to shut down conditions due to these threats. Make a good strategy trough the senior not by the owner imposed decisions. External threats make a firm weak in decision making process. The decision making process must be according to the company defined policy. It is most risky to make decision in uncertain and threatening environment. In Pakistan it is much harder to establish a strong business entity in such a fluctuating economy. So they have to make those strategies which are according to the fluctuating economy policy. If they are able to make strategies which are according to the inconsistent economy then the risky market can avail external source of finance for investment, it is also a hard task. Make permanent investors in the company. Because there is always a possibilities to decrease in financial resources which may results in inconsistent market position. Nayyer have not arranged training programs for the employees to create an awareness about the latest trends, business rules, current policies so it is also an internal weakness of the Nayyer to lose the key staff, who have a strong hold or grip on the organization in all departments.
