To the media in all its forms As most know on SATURDAY 25 May, 2013, millions of people around the global marched Against Monsanto. According to a statement by an organiser, protests were held in 436 cities in over 50 countries, and the situation is being taken so seriously by the Russian President Putin, that it was revealed in the shocking minutes of the meeting between the US Secretary of State John Kerry, and President Putin, of his 'extreme outrage' over the Obama regimes continued protection of global seed and the plant bio-genetic giants Syngenta and Monsanto in the face of a growing 'bee apocalypse' that the Kremlin warns "will most certainly" lead to a world war! I have just read the article in the Echo that was printed on the 30th May: "Protest against GM food". I would like to know from ALL newspaper reporters and editors everywhere, if there is no threat to our food chain, the bees, and our very lives and health of all people and the environment, why have over 800 world scientists agreed that GM crops are nothing short of a bio-war on food, and why, in what has been called the single largest wave of recorded suicides in human history, are Indian farmers killing themselves in record numbers? The cause? Monsantos cost-inflated and ineffective seeds have been driving farmers to suicide, and is considered to be one of the largest if not the largest cause of the quarter of a million farmer suicides over the past 16 years, with the latest statistics revealing that approximately every 30 minutes an Indian farmer commits suicide, usually by drinking the roundup being supplied to them by Monsanto. Their crops are failing over and over again and they can no longer naturally collect their free seed, as has been their right and culture for 1000's of years. Farmers are forced to buy their seeds, and their pesticides every year - and as these crops fail year after year they have no choice but to give up their lands or their lives, while Monsanto makes more profit every year. While there have been reports, even in mainstream news, it is NOT ENOUGH! Nothing has been done about the issue here in South Africa? WHY? Why

has it been allowed into South Africa, while most other African countries have banned GMO seed and the import of its produce? Why has Monsanto been banned by Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Madeira, New Zealand, Peru, South Australia, Russia, France and Switzerland? One of the most disturbing issues that has come to light is the "Monsanto Protection Act" in the USA, which according to Russia Today, will protect companies that genetically modify seeds from litigation in the face of health risks. The act instructs seed producers to ignore a ruling of the court. Senator Jeff Merkley is quoted in The New York Daily News; "It raises profound questions about the constitutional separation of powers and the ability of the courts to hold agencies accountable to the law and their responsibilities." It strips the federal courts of the authority to immediately halt the planting and sale of genetically modified (GMO) seed crops, regardless of any health concerns. I wonder who owns the courts? Our bees are being poisoned world wide by the pesticides containing neonicotinoids. Furthermore, bees that are becoming naturally resistant to Monsanto's pesticide Roundup, according to the 'Prairie Advocate News' in Illinois, USA, "have been illegally seized from the renowned naturalist Terrance Ingram, by the Illinois Agricultural Department, without providing him with a search warrant and before the court hearing on the matter." I am astounded at the capacity of our news services to ignore core issues of survival while obsessing on minutia. I say to ALL for the sake of our planet, our children and all life get the TRUTH out there.
