What We Believe We observe Communion because the Lord told us to. We are to obey His commands: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 1 Cor. 11:24 In observing Communion we are remembering Christ and all that He has done for us in his life, death and resurrection: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 1 Cor. 11:24 When observing Communion we take time to examine ourselves: But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 1 Cor. 11:28

Spoken Word Notes

- Holy Communion
In observing Communion we are proclaiming His death until He comes. It is, then, a statement of faith: For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. 1 Cor. 11:26 When we observe Communion we show our participation in the body of Christ. His life becomes our life and we become members of each other: The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 1 Cor. 10:16-17

Support our Young Women of Excellence

Greetings Lansing Church of God in Christ Family, We are writing to solicit your support. We are members of the Lansing Church of God in Christ and participants in the Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southwest Michigan Church of God in Christ (SW3) annual Young Women of Excellence pageant. In conjunction with the Young Men of Valor, this competition entitled Predestined Royalty, is sponsored by both our SW3 Youth Department during our Auxiliaries in Ministry (A.I.M.) Convention next month in Saginaw as well as the International Church of God in Christ Youth Department during their A.I.M. Convention in Baltimore, Maryland. The goal of the competition is to provide young people with positive insight and valuable information to prepare us for young adulthood. Throughout the competition some of our responsibilities include attending workshop sessions, completing an essay, presenting a talent, reading the book A Jewel in His Crown, and fundraising. The workshop topics will include public speaking, financial stewardship and social graces, just to name a few. Each of these participation opportunities will earn us points. Other points will be added based on our presentation on the day of the pageant. Our monetary contributions will earn us points also, and will be used to fund the SW3 Youth Department and potentially afford the winners of the competition an opportunity to attend the International A.I.M. Convention and compete in the International Young Women of Excellence/Young Men of Valor competition. This is where you can provide assistance. We are reaching out to our church, family, and friends who would like the opportunity to support our efforts with a donation of $20 or more. Of course, any contribution will be so greatly appreciated. With this, we will be able to support our youth department and potentially win a trip to Maryland for the A.I.M. Convention this July. Keep in mind that your contribution is fully tax deductible. Please submit your donations to us by Sunday, June 9. Checks may be made payable to SW3. Thank you in advance for your support and consideration. We are so excited for this opportunity! Sincerely Yours, Destinee Anderson Kentoria Frazier
