Respiratory Portion:

alveoli)
alveolar sacs type I/ II pneumocytes, elastic fiber
alveolar duct type I/II reticular fibers / smooth muscle at opening
respiratory bronchioles cuboid epithelium w/ alveoli
Clara Cells w/in epithelium of bronchioles EM lack of cilia
Secrete/protection, degrade toxins, stem cells
Conducting Portion:
terminal bronchiole **NO ALVEOLI, cuboidal epithelium/ 1-2 layer of
MUSCLE**
bronchioles columnar/respiratory epithelium,smooth muscle,

Alveolar Wall:
type I pneumocytes flattened nuclei line walls of alveoli
type II pneumocytes round nuclei, pink cytoplasm bulge from surface of
alveolus
