THANK YOU FOR VISITING THE SPRING BOOK FAIR Im delighted to report that the Spring Book Fair was a great success! Firstly, I would like to share that we raised well over $2,000 for our school through sales during the Fair and got lots of new books for our school Library! I want to thank the wonderful volunteers who helped us throughout the week. I would especially like to mention Angelia Kan, Chanchal Sahai, Carolyn Young, Sophia Chan and Jamie Wu, who were there for long hours throughout each day, every day, so that the Fair could remain open to everyone. It is the support of amazing volunteer parents like these that make a huge difference at Garden Gate!

! STAFF!APPRECIATION!WEEK

Last week was dedicated to honoring Garden Gates amazing Teachers and Staff! Tuesday was bring a card for your teacher day. Wednesday was a coffee and refreshment morning, Thursday we had a Mediterranean lunch with a surprise Flash Mob performance by the students! This event would not have been possible, if it were not for the hard work of our amazing Coordinators, Sreejaya Kandy and Meena Vijaykar. Thank you also to all the parents who helped with this event. The PTA deeply appreciates your hard work and support.

FUN!IN!THE!SUN!IS!TOMORROW!
Gators, I hope youre ready for some serious Fun in the Sun tomorrow, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. There will be loads of fun activities, games, a booth for airbrush tattoos and popsicles for everyone to enjoy! Jamba Juice smoothies will be available for $2 each. We still need parents to step up to help our teachers run various booths and activities. The only way we can make this event successful is if we have enough volunteers supporting us. PTA!MEETING!TONIGHT!
You are all invited to attend our last PTA meeting of the year tonight at 7:15 p.m. in the GLC. We will wrap up the year with discussions about the following years budget, calendar etc. We will also be receiving updates on PTAs new projects and plans for next year. I urge you to join us and learn more about what is going on at Garden Gate. Im sure you are all looking forward to Summer Break next week. It has been an eventful and enlightening year for all of us! We had so many wonderful PTA events like the Reflections Contest, two Book Fairs, Safety Night, International Day, Book Exchange, Literacy Night, Red Ribbon Week, Fall Celebration and many more. Next years PTA Board will be led by my amazing successor, Sophia Chan! It has been a joy to serve the school and its children. If you have ideas and suggestions on how we can improve on these events and experiences, then please join us! Garden Gate cannot have these programs and events without parental support. We will gladly accept your advice and help! We look forward to seeing you all at the Welcome Breakfast on August 19th! Wishing you wonderful summer break!

Please remember to check the Lost & Found for your childs misplaced items. It is overflowing! On June 12th, all unclaimed items will be donated to a charity. We would much rather have them returned to their owners, so take a walk to the Lost & Found which is located behind the office building.

BEFORE YOU MAKE TRAVEL PLANS

At the end of the school year students must be in attendance on the last day of school, June 12, 2013 to retain their place on the roster for the 2013 - 2014 school year. At the beginning of the school year, students must be in attendance on the first day of school, August 19, 2013 or they will not retain their place on the roster. When you are making travel plans, please consider the possible ramifications. If you have any questions, please contact Student Assignment at (408) 252-3000 ext. 110. FROM OUR SCHOOL NURSE JODI QUINTON, RN, MS, CNS If you have stored your childs medication in the school health office, please make arrangements to take it home on the last day of school. Please note: All medications will be released only to a parent or guardian. Any medications that remain after the close of school will be discarded. If your student will need medication during the school day for the next school year, a Medication Administration form must be completed. The form is available in the school office. Please note that in order for medications to be given, both the doctor and the parent must sign the form. When completed, bring the Medication Administration form and the medication (in the original container) to the secretaries in the school office. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at Quinton_jodi@cusdk8.org MISSING TEXTBOOKS AND LIBRARY BOOKS Please take a moment and search under beds and on student bookshelves for any overdue books from our library or lost classroom textbooks. You will receive a bill for any books that have not been returned. Yearbooks and report cards will be held until all balances have been cleared. If the book is found after you have paid, your money will be refunded. Thank you for your support in teaching responsibility to our students. The library will be closing May 31 in order to take inventory.
