__________________________________________o0o_______________________________________ ART MAGAZINE: (Groups of 3s) Deadline: March 4 (For C31) and March 5 (For C35 and EG) Create an art magazine that shows your groups creative side! Do come up with an interesting title and layout. Include your name and section on the cover of your magazine. You must include the following: 1.) Show Review/Art Work Critique (Please do not forget to include your name on the page of your article) o Option A: Write a Show Review (Critique) of a LIVE PERFORMANCE seen. Do include the ticket stub from the show watched. (300 Words, Font Size 11 or 12, Arial)

Include the following: First Paragraph: Title of show, type of show (concert, musical, opera, ballet, etc.), mention names of performers, names of the artistic staff (director, musical director, costume designer, etc.), venue of performance, date of performance, short background of the story, etc. Second Paragraph: What are your impressions on the show? Did you like it? Hate it? Why? Cite one portion or scene that stood out for you. Why? Are there scenes from the show that reflect or illustrate any themes discussed in class? Cite one example. What have you learned from the show watched? What have you learned from the experience of watching a show? Was there something or someone (a character from the play perhaps) whom you can relate to on a personal level? Why?

The above shows are suggested ones only. If there are other shows that you prefer to watch, you may do so as long as it is a LIVE PERFORMANCE. Feel free to share information or links on certain shows through our yahoo groups. POP AND ROCK CONCERTS WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF SHOWS FOR THIS CLASS. (Will explain this further in class). For incentives: Each show attended is equivalent to one (1) incentive. An incentive can cover for one late or one absence. However, seat work activities will not be covered by incentives. The more shows attended, the more incentives.

o Option B: Write an Art Work Critique based on a specific piece of art (painting or sculpture) seen in any museum in Manila. Include the museum ticket stub (if there is) or have your picture taken in front of the museum of choice. (300 Words, Font Size 11 or 12, Arial) First Paragraph: Title of art work, type of art work, materials used, name of the artist, and what museum or gallery is it located. Second Paragraph: Reasons behind choosing that art work, formal analysis, content and contextual analysis, personal reflections on the art work, etc.

2.) Reflection on a Report: (Please do not forget to include your name) Write a 300-word essay on a specific topic in class that you are interested in. The topic/report that you must focus on MUST NOT COME FROM YOUR OWN GROUP. Please be guided by the following questions: a. Specify the theme and the topic selected. b. What evidences can you see in the specific art work that reflects the theme you have chosen? c. Any insights from the theme and art work that you can relate to on a personal level? 3.) Reflection on a Featured Artist The task: Interview a Filipino artist (a musician, a singer, a sculptor, a painter, art photographer, visual or digital artist, filmmaker, director, actor, etc.). Make sure he/she is a SERIOUS ARTIST, someone who lives a life through his/her art and not just pa- jamming lang. He/she can either be a

classical/folk/ethnic/contemporary/rock/pop artist. Can be a student artist but should have professional experience and at least national recognition (featured in the papers, etc.). The interview MUST BE PERSONAL. Have a picture taken with the artist as a group to show that you were able to conduct the said interview. Please print it out on photopaper and paste it on a page in your magazine. Include the ff: (the artist's profile should be on a separate page in your magazine and should be separate from your reflection paper): Personal info: Name, age, occupation, specialized art form, name of city/province, etc. Names of his/her works of art; contributions to the Philippine art scene His/her personal definition/s of art Beginnings as an artist (summary only) Turning point as an artist (his/her decision to pursue art) Challenges faced in pursuit of his/her art (ex. the training/s, demands, persecution, financial difficulties, etc) Artists resolutions for such challenges Artists inspiration for creation of his/her art Artists personal comments/ideas/perception on current art scene in the country The artists future plans/contributions to improve/raise awareness of Philippine arts to todays current generation. The Reflection Paper: Each member of the group should write a 200-word reflection based on his/her own personal encounter with the artist. Any personal insights from the interview? Anything from the interview that relates to you on a personal level? Also include specific ways how you could support not only the artist featured but other local artists as well. ________________________________________o0o______________________________________ Note: The group is given the freedom to create a concept for the magazine and the layout design. However, please bear in mind to choose fonts (for your articles) that are easy to read.
