Dear Parents
I hope you and your children had a good week during half term and that you managed to get some quality time with your families. It makes such a difference to have pleasant weather! This week has all been about preparation. The RW Fete is coming soon (Saturday 6th July), children in Year 2 are undertaking their SATs papers, end of year reports are being written and planning the playground developments and imminent water fountains are well underway. Please read on

is a survey issued on behalf of the school's Board of Directors, created in collaboration with the Parents' Network. It is designed to obtain as much information from parents as possible to gauge your satisfaction with our services, and to indicate areas you particularly appreciate, and those where you would like changes or improvements. Your replies will help the School's Board of Directors and Head-teacher to plan future provision and priorities at the school. All replies will be treated in confidence, but the overall satisfaction scores will be shared with all parents. If you havent already, please press here to take the survey (it will only take approximately 10 minutes of your time). The deadline is Friday 14th June. Thank you in advance for your time.

Sports Day 2013 Com ing Soon!

Last years sports day tied in with World Sports Day and it was such a success we decided to replicate the events of 2012 and run Sports Day on Tuesday 25th J une at Shoreditch Park. Children will be in three coloured teams: red, blue and yellow. Press the photo above for a slideshow of last years races, and here to see a video of last years Sports Day. You are all welcome to attend to cheer on your children and they are welcome to leave with you at the end (please notify their class teacher if you wish to take them home from Shoreditch Park).

The School Fete is approaching fast and it would be great to have a few more volunteers for the running of stalls. Some stalls that as yet are untaken but have been successful in the past include:
Cakes Manicures Second hand books and toys Guess the weight game Bottle tombola Soft toy tombola Food stall A bar

If you would like to run one of these please fill in the form (here) and return to Alannah in the school office by Friday 14th June. Or if none of these appeal to you, you could run any stall of your choice, such as a lucky dip, bean bags thrown into hula hoop targets, hook a duck, a coconut shy or any other exciting ideas you might have! We want the day to be lots of fun for the whole family and a well deserved treat for the children (and teachers!) who have worked hard this year. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the fete please ask any of the members of the RWPN (Matt Hanrahan and Jim Hamil for year 1 and 2, Lucy Claridge, Danielle Cooper or Kathryn Boyt for Reception), Rob for the school or Magalie for the EYC. Thanks for your support, The Parent's Network

We had a treat yesterday when childrens illustrator Ali Pye visited us and ran workshops in Reception Class and Year 1. She brought her book Where is Fred? which is a lovely, beautifully illustrated book and the children designed and made their crows and caterpillars. In the afternoon Ali returned to do a book signing and sold out! Wed all like to warmly thank Ali for coming to Rosemary Works School yesterday and for sharing her talent with the children. It was a wonderful experience for them and for those who bought a signed copy, a lovely memento of the day. Thank you also to Kathryn for setting up this meeting and supporting us. P rizes and Certificates

Artist & Scientist of the W eek

There were various reasons why children were awarded prizes and certificates this week. This included amazing maths, good effort with homework and handwriting, and for learning the songs from our imminent summer show. Well done to you all! The foci next week are: Year 2+ will aim to work collaboratively and cooperatively with each other in groups. Year 1 will aim to apply their great joined-up handwriting in all books and homework and not just in their guided books. Reception Class will aim to resolve minor conflicts with their peers independently by using their words. Nursery Class will aim to respond to instructions first time.

The artist of the w eek went to Ernie in Year 1 for his crow and caterpillar inspired by and made during the workshop with Ali yesterday. We all think it was beautifully made and worthy of the accolade! Well done to you. The scientist of the w eek this week went to Isabella in Year 2 for her work with Dorothy on forces. They conducted an investigation using ramps and cars to see the effect of forces on a moving object. Well done!
