Trade Recycling Service

How will recycling benefit my company?

By using the recycling service your business will be making a positive contribution to recycling in Neath Port Talbot Council and to meeting targets in line with the Welsh Government's policy Towards Zero Waste. Times are hard so why spend more than you need to on waste disposal? Reducing waste could result in your company becoming more profitable. Save money to increase your profits by looking at ways of preventing waste and recycling the waste you do generate.

Save money by having a smaller refuse bin Choice of containers for recycling. Encourage 'Waste Awareness' within your business. Reduce the amount of waste being sent for disposal. Comply with latest legislation such as the Waste Hierarchy. One charge no matter how many things you recycle.

How much of your turnover is spent on waste?

On the opposite page you will find a list of the materials we can collect from your business for recycling. There will be a small charge for this service. If you prefer to take your waste to the Recycling Centres located at Rhydyfro, Briton Ferry and Cymmer you may apply for vouchers to deposit recyclables for free. You will not, however be permitted to dispose of refuse or food waste at the recycling centres.

How can my business recycle?

Across Neath Port Talbot, the frequency of council trade waste collections is being reduced to help promote recycling (as has been the case with household collections). However, with the exception of plastics, recycling will be collected weekly. You will be advised by letter if your business is affected by fortnightly collections.

Fortnightly Collections

The table below shows the materials that can now be collected for recycling from your business. There is charge of 3.00 per week for one or all of the wastes, plus half price bin rental charges where applicable.

Questions & Answers...

Why are you changing the service? Why is refuse collected fortnightly in some areas? Will this cost more?

To offer businesses the opportunity to comply with latest legislation such as the Waste Hierarchy and to meet Government recycling targets.

If you use the new recycling service you should aim to have less bins or a smaller bin and therefore pay less for refuse collection.

To improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the service, to bring the trade waste service more in line with the domestic service and to promote recycling. A calendar will be provided if you are affected by this.

How do I get started with the new recycling service? What if I dont want to do this?

In due course all customers will be required to change over. If you want to make other arrangements for your waste you will need written Duty of Care evidence. A business needs to have written evidence of how they get rid of their waste. If you are unable to provide this on request within 14 days you can be subject to a 300 fixed penalty charge. The letter with this leaflet explains when the changes will take place in your area as it is gradually being introduced throughout the borough.

To start immediately, complete the agreement form supplied with this booklet and return it to the address at the top of the form. Your containers will be delivered and you will be advised when your collections will be.

When will this happen? Will everything be collected on the same day? I have already paid my bill so will I get my money back? What if I want to cancel my contract?

If you find you can downgrade your contract after trying the new service for a few weeks this will be applied from the date the changes are made. Your account will be adjusted and any credit carried forward to your next bill.

You will be advised of collection days, some recycling items may be collected on a different day due to the vehicle used for collection.

Who do I contact for more Information?

Information about the Waste Hierarchy can be found at: http://wales.gov.uk/docs/desh/publications/120119wast ehierarchyguideen.pdf Contact the trade waste section by: Email: tradewaste@npt.gov.uk or Tel: 01639 686406 or 01639 686405

Please try the new service. If you still want to cancel you will need to complete a termination form and appoint an alternative suitably licensed company to collect your waste. You will not be able to have a new waste collection contract with the Council without signing up to recycling collections as well.
