This is a reminder to please pick up any medication from the office before the end of June. Medication forms for the 2013-2014 school year can be picked up as well, so they can be updated and signed by your family physician over the summer.

ReadE for Summer Camp

There are still spaces available for the FREE summer camp that will be held here at Maple Grove School. This camp is open to all children going into grades 2-6 in September 2013. The hours of the camp are 9am to 4pm. Registration forms are still available at the school office.

Professional Development
Professional development workshops/meetings are essential for staff to collaborate with colleagues in order to stay on top of the changes and or developments in the education system. The following PD workshops were attended in May: May 1 & 10 ~ Arts HUB ~ Mrs. Bell, Mme. Fowler & Mrs. Harron May 6 ~ AIM (French) Workshop ~ Mme. Fowler May 23 ~ Ross Greene Workshop ~ Miss Brady, Mrs. Bell, Ms. Fielding, Ms. McCaw & Mrs. Murphy Sports are also an important part of learning and on May 2nd, Mr. Sauve attended the Upper Canada Sports League meeting in the afternoon. He was also away on June 3rd with the Track & Field team and the Regional meet in Smiths Falls. We have four athletes who competed at the Regional Track & Field meet and will compete on June 13th. Mr. Sauve will be attending this meet with the team as well.

Track & Field

On May 24th the Junior Track & Field team attended a meet in the cold, wet rain at Carleton Place High School. Despite the weather, all our athletes had a good day and competed to the best of their ability. We had a few team members place in the top six and they are: Curtis Jesty ~ 5th in the Peewee Boys 200m; Cassia Closs-Desjardine ~ 3rd in the Atom Girls 100m, 5th in the Atom Girls 200m, and 6th in the Atom Girls Standing Long Jump; and Donavin Deacon ~ 1st in the Atom Boys 400m, 5th in the Atom Boys 800m. Our Intermediate team competed in the Regional Track & Field meet in Smiths Falls on June 3rd. Four athletes placed in the top 8 and will move on to the Upper Canada Sports League Championship Cup on June 13th (rain date of June 14th). These athletes are: Anthony Reynolds-Harpell ~ 7th in the Sr. Boys 100m; Taylor Riopelle ~ 5th in the Jr. Girls Running Long Jump; Sydney Deacon ~ 8th in the Jr. Girls Triple Jump; and Braiden Nichols ~ 1st in Sr. Girls Shot Put and 6th in S. Girls Running Long Jump. Congratulations to all our Track & Field athletes and good-luck to those competing on June 13th!
