Selecting or Changing your Engineering Major

If you are selecting your major for the first time, or are considering changing your major, please remember that you may only change your major once per Semester. The final date for you to select or change your major for Semester 1, 2013 is the first Friday of Semester 1. Students selecting their major for the first time should do so once they have completed their first year of study (unless you have been granted Recognition of Prior Learning for your first year units). Upon selecting your major for the first time you should ensure that you have completed all of your first year units specified within your major. You should then select to take second and third year followed by forth year units where possible to ensure that you have met any relevant unit requisites. Students who are currently registered in a major that is no longer offered (discontinued) are able to complete the major they are in provided they do not select to change their major. Students selecting their major for the first time or choosing to change their major will not be permitted to undertake a major that is no longer offered (discontinued). Please keep in mind that if you choose to change your major you may find that not all of the units you have completed to date may be able to be used in your new major. Recognition of Prior Learning previously granted may also no longer be applicable within your new major and will need to be re-assessed and un-granted requiring you to complete additional units to be eligible to complete your selected course/major. If you are selecting, or changing your major, collect a sample program outline for the double major you wish to undertake from the Student Services Department. If you have any queries please contact the Student Services staff at enrolment@curtin.edu.my by telephone 085443939 or by calling into the Student Services Department as staff will be happy to assist you or direct you to appropriate staff.
