 Don’t debate – but only present your
arguments vis a vis others’
 Letter must match the purpose.
 Letter must present your company’s
philosophy – if it is just to build image of
the company.

Apology letter . . .
 Start with pleasentry and then go ahead to
present your perspective – for example:
 It was indeed a pleasant experience to
interact with you. We believe that you are a
very talented person and have great
potential. However, we have no job which
matches your profile and your background.
We have kept your biodata for our future
requirements and shall communicate with
you, whenever we have a job profile
matching you.

Press release . . .
 Give facts and figures in such a way that it is of
interest to general public and they may like to know
about it. Be brief, but don’t leave important facts,
which may give people information.
 For example: AFTERSCHOOOL organised a lecture
on international business perspectives. Mr. S.L.
Dugar talked about business opportunities and
trends in different countries and how Indians can
benefit out of it. He clarified doubts regarding
business practices in other countries, particularly
relating to China, Jimbabwe, Indonesia etc.

Some common words . . .
 Grapevine : informal communication
 Rumour : informal communication

 Euphemism : to speak positive, when


some bad news is there. (for example,
went to heavenly abode – instead of
died)
 Gossip : informal communication

Some common words . . .
 Whistle blowing : to challenge a
malpractice in a company by reporting the
matter to the top management
 Leak : anonymous whistle blowing
 Manipulation: to influence another person
by giving threats / pleadings / etc.
 Closing: the last communication is called
closing – for example, last paragraph in
letter, or last discussions in a meeting.

Some common words . . .
 Spiralling agreement: start with minimum
agreement, and proceed to form more and
more agreement
 Consensus building: a tactics, where we try
to take everyone in confidence and try to
see that everyone agree to us.
 Win – win approach: a tactics in negotiation
in which we try to adopt an approch –
which benefits both the parties in
negotiation (the best one).

Some common words . . .
 Win – lose approach: here one person tries to win
and defeat another – but other person also tries so,
this is called win-lose approach (it is not good,
replace it by win-win approach).
 Lose – lose approch: communication tectics, where
both the parties loose due to withdrawal / adamancy
etc. by both the parties. Example: a cheated customer
doesn’t again come to the office of the comapany –
both loose – customer & company.
 Compromise: communication tectics – where one
person tries to help others too much or sacrifices too
much - it is not sustainable.

Some common words . . .
 Groupthink : it is basic mistake in a
group – where everyone agrees to one
or a few dominant persons and say yes
to whatever they say. This is most
dangerous for an organisation. It should
be discouraged and people should be
encouraged to speak out confidently,
candidly.

 Prejudice: it is also very dangerous in a
group – where one / few persons have a
negative opinion on another person
based on caste / colour / race / other
such illogical criteria.

Ravi at 2.1 lakh. Purchase date 15
may 2005. selling date in 1 jan 2008.
 Deduct depreciation on car price @ 20%
which is
 6.96*.8*.8 =445440
 Taxable amount 2.35440 lakhs.
 Here we take period from 15 May 2005
to 15 may 2007 – rest is ignored.
 (rate is 50% for electronic items and 10%
on other items).
