Access Level: Everyone Date Created: 04/20/2010 04:26 PM Last Updated: 03/01/2013 03:19 PM

Problem: A FactoryTalk View SE Client crashes when opening a display hosting the FactoryTalk Alarms and Events Log Viewer control configured with an initial display filter. Solution: The attached patch fixes the problem. Installation: This patch is required on all machines that have FactoryTalk Alarms and Events installed. Two install options are provided: an auto install (uses a Setup BAT file); and a manual install. Note: To correctly install this patch the user login must have full administrative privileges no matter which install method is utilized. Auto Install: To proceed with this install, do the following on all machines in the application. Note: the BAT utility will determine which components are installed on the target machine and will only install those patch files applicable to each machine: 1. Shutdown any applications on the target machine. 2. Download and unzip the attached Setup_RAid68129.zip file to any location on the target machine. 3. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Setup_RAid68129 folder (or open the Windows CMD prompt and change to the setup folder). Run Setup.b at to start the auto install. 4. After the BAT file completes, confirm the respective patch file has been installed to the correct location (Note: the auto install will generate a text log file in the Setup_RAid68129 folder which will indicate whether the install succeeded). 5. Reboot the computer. Manual Install: 1. Reboot the computer into safe mode. 2. Download and unzip the attached RAid68129Binary.zip file to the target machine. When unzipped, this folder should include: FactoryTalk ActivationsELogViewer.ocx 2.20.3.18 3. Copy the file to the Rockwell folder (default location is "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Rockwell") replacing the existing file. See the caution below: 4. Reboot the computer. CAUTION: It is important that the original files be overwritten by the new files and not renamed or moved first. If files are renamed or moved first, the operating system may update the registry to point to the incorrect file. To keep a copy of the older file, it is safe to copy that file to another location.
