ELECTRICAL POWER

ELECTRIC POWER GRID National Electrical Grid Connection: In December 2009, Rosita and a few adjacent communities were connected to the expanding national electrical grid replacing the gasoline generator source of electrical power. This connection marked a major advance in cost containment and availability of electrical power for Rosita, new opportunities for the economy, and improvement in health. The availability of the electrical grid connection will allow Rosita to sell excess power. This should make further development of hydroelectric power more attractive to private entities.

HYDROELECTRIC POWER A mini hydroelectric power project has been proposed for the cities of Rosita and Bonanza. Based on the most recent report from Mario Torres, Director of Electrical Power Projects in Nicaragua for ENEL (the electrical power utility for the Nicaraguan government), the feasibility study has been completed with favorable results. The actual construction phase has now entered the bidding process which at the present time has been stalled. We are awaiting a further update from Mr. Torres.
