An Annual 1.

5% UN-fWASH Contribution to Reduce Child Mortality from a Projected 94 Million to 11 Million or Less (2014-2050)
FACT: Globally, nearly 500 million children less than 5 years of age have died since 1970 (1970-2013; avg. 31,000 per day or 11 million per year) FACT: Globally, nearly 220 million children less than 5 years of age have died since 1990 (1990-2013; avg. 25,000 per day or 9 million per year) FACT: Globally, nearly 53 million children less than 5 years of age are projected to die through 2023 (2014-2023; avg. 14,641 per day or 5.3 million per year) FACT: Globally, nearly 94 million children less than 5 years of age are projected to die through 2050 (2014-2050; avg. 7,000 per day or 2.5 million per year) FACT: Despite organizations such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation having worked on these issues since 1994, the number of children less than five years of age dying has fluctuated between an annual 417,000 (1970-1977) and 252,000 (2004-2011) decrease. This is great, but we have the ability to change the graph from a linear function to an antilog function, avoiding over 80 million children dying through 2050.

An Annual 1.5% UN-fWASH Contribution to Reduce Child Mortality from a Projected 94 Million to 11 Million or Less (2014-2050)
THE PROBLEMS: The main culprits of under-5 mortality, which are on track to take the lives of another 94 million children less than five years of age through 2050 (2014-2050) are malnutrition, malaria, pneumonia and diarrhoeal diseases. In other words, lack of food, lack of drinkable water, and unsafe water sources (fWASH ~ food, water, sanitation and hygiene).

An Annual 1.5% UN-fWASH Contribution to Reduce Child Mortality from a Projected 94 Million to 11 Million or Less (2014-2050)
THE ANSWERS: According to an annual report by Credit Suisse, in 2012 the world's 50% wealthiest individuals (those with a minimum net wealth of 3,700 US dollars) owned 99% of global wealth. If, beginning in 2014, the world's 50% wealthiest individuals would be willing and do contribute an annual 1.5% to an UN-fWASH (United Nations Food, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) trust account, this would provide an estimated 3.3 trillion US dollars (or 3.8 trillion Gheary-Khamis or international dollars, to account for purchasing power parity between countries), for FY 2014/15 to redress under-5 mortality and related health and well-being measures.

An Annual 1.5% UN-fWASH Contribution to Reduce Child Mortality from a Projected 94 Million to 11 Million or Less (2014-2050)
THE ANSWERS: According to an estimation derived from data provided by the Worldbank, it would cost 500 billion US dollars to purchase and deliver enough food via WFP to feed the 870 million people worldwide (2011 UN est.) who are malnourished. And according to two pioneering organic farming proponents, Masanobu Fukuoka and John Jeavons, a mere 26% (1/8 acre per person) of the world's arable land (13,812,040 km2 according to FAO, which doesn't include permanent pastures used to raise livestock) would be sufficient to provide enough food for each of the 7.07 billion people worldwide.

THE ANSWERS: The Transaqua Project in Democratic Republic of Congo and adjacent countries would divert 5% of Congo River freshwater to Lake Chad in the Sahel and irrigate 5 million hectares of land to grow enough food to feed 35 million people per year, as well as provide hydro-electricity and lumber products for housing (e.g. bamboo) for surrounding residents. (est. cost 100 billion US dollars)
