Regional Youth Forum: Empowerment through Inheritance - Interior Region Sponsored By The New Relationship Trust

June 19-20, 2013, Tkemlups te Secwepemc, Kamloops, BC

EVENT DETAILS
Regional Youth Forums
Empowerment Through Inheritance, the guiding theme of all regional youth engagement sessions planned with young people across our 203 Nations, including the Interior Regional Youth Forum , broadly captures the inter and intra cultural, social, political and legal relations and institutions of our Ancestors, Elders, leadership and citizenship that First Nations young people are set to inherit. In recognition of our population projections and current lived realities of our growing First Nation youth demographic, and towards the goal of healthy and vibrant First Nations across Canada, elected regional youth representatives strive within their roles and through these regional youth forums to help support and empower youth leadership leading up to this inheritance, and with and alongside our current Leadership. The Interior Regional Forum is the third of four regional youth forums initiated by the BCAFN Youth Representatives aimed at creating the safe and necessary space young people seek and require to engage the cultural and sociopolitical environments they currently reside and will inherit as future community leaders and as members of our communities largest and fastest growing demographic. These forums are a key vehicle and medium from which to engage and promote BC First Nations youth perspective and within and towards collaborative and contributory dialogue with our communities and leadership, and in pathway of the visioned First Nations Youth Network.
