Demonstrated for:

Global Process Systems LLC. Mafraq Fabrication Shop. Abu Dhabi. Date of Test: 23.01.2008
Purpose:

To demonstrate the capability of the test system (using the subject procedure on the Test Sample) to be employed for Magnetic Particle Examination of welds and evaluating the test results in line with the requirements of Appendix 6 of ASME Section VIII Div. 1, as mandated in T-150 of ASME Section V and within the variable limits specified in Article 7 of ASME Section V, edition 2007. 6. 7.
Examination method & Technique:

Wet Continuous Color Contrast Magnetic Particle Examination, using AC Yoke magnetization technique with minimum pole spacing of 3 and maximum pole spacing of 8.
Test Samples:

Low-carbon Steel Plate Sample MC 455. SMAW Butt-welded joint. (Photograph of test sample attached) 8.
Surface condition of Test Samples:

As-welded, with the test surface (including 1(25mm) all around) dry and free of any scale, grease, dirt, weld - flux, slag or spatter, paint, oil or other foreign matter. (Sample solvent cleaned before demonstration) 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14.
Test Equipment:

AC ELECTROMAGNETIC YOKE, Model: MY II; Srl. No.: 1639 Make: GAMMATEC.

Equipment Lifting Power Verification:

Lifting power verified on 10 lbs (4.5Kg) certified steel block at 8 pole spacing for AC Yoke electromagnet. (Steel block Srl no. A973; calibrated)
Test Material Group Applied:

WFMT 1; (Fluorescent Ink: Magnaglo-14HF)

Test Temperature at start: 270C

(Measured with a digital calibrated thermometer Sr. No. 90540143)

By spraying 14a. Magnetic Particle type: Fluorescent ink. 14HF oil based fluorescent MPI ink. Mfg: Magna-flux Corporation. 16. 17. 18.
Verification of Field Indication:

Verified using Pie indicator/BC strips.

Method of Excess particle removal:

Not demonstrated.
Test area overlap and rotation of Yoke:

Complete coverage of test area was done by a minimum of 2 separate examinations on each area producing approximately perpendicular directions of magnetic lines. (By turning the yoke by 90 alternatively) 19. 20. 21.
Lighting and light intensity:

Ultraviolet light; verified to be 1009 microwatts/ cm2. Photometer Sr. No. 6421; background=dark.
Test Temperature at end:
