3. REGULAR MONOLOGUE (speech)

Example: You are a representative of the Ministry of Education. A new direction, that of the streaming system of education has arisen, and is waiting to be implemented. Talk to the group of journalists about this idea, explaining what it refers to and how you think it will be beneficial for the educational system. (You have 30 sec. to prepare). Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. We are here today to talk about a new educational direction that our Ministry had decided to embrace, the streaming system of education. In this type of educational system, children are educated according to their ability, with the more gifted children separated from the others. I must say that I totally encourage this system of education. It is a new educational orientation based on division according to intellectual abilities and it has proven to be the best way of enhancing childrens potential. The first reason to support this idea is that, in this way, gifted children will not be held back by less clever pupils, being therefore able to work at their full potential. In addition to this, another advantage is that such a system creates a great competition, a race in which only the best of the best will win. Although this system may be divisive, it is an efficient way of optimizing education by grouping students according to their abilities and interests. Consequently, I consider that it is from these intellectual elites that our future society should choose its most representative members, to build and ensure the foundations of a better world.
