BIKE BASE-PURPOSE
Participants should focus on the cyclists user experience. There are several reasons to stop at the Bike Base: grabbing a morning coffee or pastry on the way to work or school making a small repair or topping up your tire pressure enjoying an after-work refreshment or a chat with friends resting along your cycling tour or in between stops checking your mail at the wireless hot-spot charging your mobile phone, laptop or your electric bike

Demographically, visitors of the Bike Base will come from very different social and age groups: students, working people, commuters and occasional cyclists, people who ride for fun, tourists, people who use a bicycle in/for their work (couriers, letter carriers), sport cyclists, electric bikers, and even pedestrians, of course. ps: students, working people, commuters and occasional cyclists, people who ride for fun, tourists, people who use a bicycle in/for their work (couriers, letter carriers), sport cyclists, electric bikers,

the Social Base

00001

The bike base will fulfill the needs of the everyday biker and offer other activities and services to people other than cycling. It brings together people from different social classes and lifestyles under the same roof, encouraging them to interact with each other and with the base's surrounding. The base recognizes the green open meadow that is just asking for people to notice and enjoy it. It is only one story tall to not obstruct the views from the meadow and is positioned at a point where people can walk up, so kids have somewhere to play and friends can drink their coffee seated on the grass. It will be made with only 2 modular units (using the sun as an energy source), saving money, effort and time, allowing the possibility of expansion at need. People will interact with Trimo products because they perform an important role in both modules. This concept could easily function in many cultures, and together with its modular configuration, it could become an exportable Social Base to other cities around the world.

Entrances and routes
The placement of the bike base foRRest is strategic. It is located in a green plot close to one of the most important communication points of Ljubljana, the main bus and train station. On the north it is delimitated by the train tracks and principal roads on the south and east. The one on the south belongs to the main road that surrounds the city center, while the one on the east is one of the accesses to the city coming from Bezigrad neighborhood. On the west we can found a petrol station behind a improvised car park. Because of being a crossing point among different circulations it is a place where to rest. The access by bike is very easy coming from Bezigrad, the bus and train stations. The bike base foRRest has both accesses, from the south and from the east. Becoming a face to the east street.

Detail of the top of the canopy. e.: 1/5 Detail of the plugs on the columns. e.: 1/5

The main structure of the canopy is a metalic hollow square shaped column which hosts the water downpipe and the electrical systems. Every system has its on isolation against the interaction of both. From this column there four T shaped beams which support the covering surfaces of the canopy. There are three kind of triangular surfaces that can be exchange depending on the composition that is required. On the top of the canopy there is a water pump inside the structure to collect the rain water and send it to the water tank that is located in the foundation. The tank helps the foundation, so it cant never be empty. All the tanks of every canopy are connected, so they can bring water to the main deposits next to the buildings, to supply them. If there is too much water, it can go to the main urban pipes. To be able to plug in to the canopies is the main idea, so the column is provided with several plugs. Apart from that the canopy provides the required ilumination acting as a lamppost.

03858

All functions in one.

Depending on the climate of the place, the orientation or the conditions we want to achieve, the canoy offers different coatings that are easily removable and changeable. The canopy is composed of 4 portions which are completely swappable, making the composition that best suits for each situation.

The main idea of the project is to make bike culture visible in the city. For that we propose race as a urban game in which bicycle paths together with bike stations create a chain of possible bike tracks in Ljubljana. The stations function as check points providing basic city information and as pit stops for service and as simple shelter in case of bad weather. We think the bike stop must be always easily accessible and fit anywhere in the city. For that reasons, we decided to place it not on a meadow but on the sidewalk - between the cyclists and pedestrians flows. This location divides bike and walker streams, does not block the move and helps popularizing the bicycle culture also among pedestrians. Extremely minimal functional program and nondisturbing character make the bike stop an ideal safe meeting place. The bike stop pavilion is sustainable and economical in use structure. We consciously resigned from the functions that require higher amount of work and energy, for example toilets. In the neighborhood there are buildings that contain them.We want the bike stop to be as self-sufficient as possible.

14034 BIKE BASE A meeting point for cyclists, a place for refreshment and rest, servicing bicycles and electrical bicycles, free wireless internet connection, charging batteries for computers, mobile phones, charging for electrical bicycles and motorcycles-these are the aims for on the north artery of Ljubljana called Dunajska cesta . The main point was to make some inconvenient, useful place for cyclists. There they will be able to have a rest, change the clothes and take care about the bikes. First question is: what can I make with this kind of containers? The decision was to cut each of containers in to three pieces, but it wasnt usual simple cutting. How was the cutting made is shown in the video attached to competition materials. With this cutting we receive three completely different pieces in which we can put out functions in many combinations. Whats more there is many possibilities to put them together in many orders and also connect them. There will be five main function inside: bike places, repair place with space for charging for electrical bicycles and motorcycles, toilet, refreshment place, coffee and coffee machine with place for charging batteries for computers, mobile phones. The three containers to cut means nine pieces to use. The plan is to put them in one line on the new path created for this bike base. The guidelines for the pieces are on circle with five meters distance on perimeter between them. The solar panels can be placed on the roof of each containers to produce the electricity. Water can be storage in the special places under the roof. The elements from outside will be covered with dark grey MultiVario new line of facade panels. From inside the will be light and fresh green color made with facade system trimoterm FTV INVISIO. This idea id very functional and it can suit to many different place and can be replicated everywhere where is needed. It gives opportunity to conform to the people requirements.

The central idea of the project is the prototype combination of the tree Trimo modular units in a way so they form an active layout which would provoke social interaction and creative use of both indoor and outdoor spaces generated. The three volumes stand on different positions depending on their content and are aligned in such a way to maximize open spaces between them, as well as providing accessibility and structural support one to each other. The result is a dynamic formation that interacts productively with its surrounding park and urban elements, while providing the potential capacity for various activities from the users. The program of the project is hosted on the three modules and the three mayor plazas that are created between them. The first module stands in a typical horizontal position containing a closed interior space for social meetings, caf and relaxation. It has the big elevation transparent with glass, facing towards the city. The second one stands in a vertical position and functions as a symbolic tower that shows presence of the bike base and the internet signal. It is divided in two floors and offers spaces for small groups of people to use their laptops and the wi-fi connection. This module has a big transparent faade facing the park, and another one used as a climbing wall. The third one is placed in inclination and functions as a big staircase that provides accessibility to the second floor of the module two and the roof of module one. It is also facing to the park and it would provide the capacity to operate also as a small amphitheater for collective gatherings or performances. Underneath this module there is a shaded parking for bicycles. In the middle of the project is created a covered triangular space which provides the facilities and tools to repair bicycles. One of the three plazas created hosts the electrical bicycles, and the rest two ones would contain trees and vegetation. All the materials used are of Trimo. The exterior skin of the modules is composed of white Trimo ArtMe panels with an abstract voronoi pattern, which reflects the organic profile of the surrounding nature. The interior spaces are cladded with Trimo Qbliss One panels placed in vertical and horizontal positions and in three different colors: orange, gold and yellow. The transparent surfaces are of Trimo Qbiss Air facade skin placed on aluminum sliding doors. The roof of the third module provides an ideal place with the right inclination (30%) facing to the south for the Trimo EcoSolar PV panels to generate maximum solar energy. The proposal is following sustainable design principles by combining correct orientation, high quality materials and solar panels. More specifically, in the north facades is provided sufficient protection by the closed insulated skin and in the south faades the wide openings capture the sun rays, creating a passive system with solar energy gains. The energy produced by the solar panels oriented south and placed in inclination 20-30% is spent carefully by the LED lightning and the charging needs for the laptops and the electrical
bicycles. Solar energy production and reduced consumption aspire to achieve and equilibrium of the energy balance of the projects system. The urban presence of the project is enhanced by the programmatic density, the accessibility and the prototype combination of the Modular units. Its unconventional combination of the modules provokes peoples curiosity to visit and use. Users are being offered a flexible program and various open spaces to unroll their creativity and requirements. Act in Containers, or Acting Containers?

CONCEPT
The bicycle, an increasingly important element in the functioning of the contemporary city. A healthy and ecological response with direct benefits in their users and their environment. We understand that each bike is like a little seed of pure and clean energy in constant motion, a dynamic component that spreads through the city like as a paradigm, as a lifestyle, in a world in need of green solutions that change the environmental quality of the planet. That's why the Bike Base is conceived as a vibrant place, an activity center that generated and potency the encounter between people who choose to be part of that change. From a morphological-technical exploration of composition and

constructive links, surge a high semantic urban image, alluding to the DYNAMISM as a quality that represent to the cycling. Its a domino of boxes, elevated and supported on one another, responding to two main design premises: obtain height to establish the bike base as a recognizable urban icon into the bike lanes and the whole city and generate more hierarchy in the interior space, enriching it through the diagonal lines obtained by tilting modules, allowing new uses and differentiation of functions. The inside-outside interaction is based on curiosity and surprise as mobilizers that urge to explore. New perspectives and transparencies are open through the proposal. Indoor activities are partially shown out, which invites the pedestrian and cyclist to enter to discover them.

What cyclists needs? They need social point with possibility to take rest, snack, and coffee or bike service, between their ways from point A to B... It happens, that in morning rush hour we forget to drink coffee or eat a breakfast, that we are hungry on our way home or our bike tire have a puncture. All that problems will go away with self service station on our way to target point. To attract people using bicycle as means of transport, municipality should ensure safe bicycle lanes and some attraction points in urban space. This attraction could be self service station - functional sculpture placed in some frequency points in the city, to connect bicycle lanes in to accessibility network. It should be self-service and user friendly station with different possibilities of using. Its simple, in the city jungle is difficult to noticed horizontal volume as an attraction point. So the main idea is to place vertical volume, which will work as lighthouse, whose function is orientation in space. Also easily noticed bike station need some shelter to protect visitors from the weather impacts. The roof create safe place to enjoy snack, coffee, using mobile devise or service bike. Space is fully opened to highlight the city's public areas at any location and attract cyclists to stop. Illuminating verticality and floating roof arent just visual attraction, they also have, to the people, invisible function. On the top of tower in water collector from which water flows into reservoir, where is also water-cleaning device. Water is used for washing hands. The horizontal roof is covered with Trimo Eco-Solar units. Solar panels produce energy, which is key element for independent working of bike station. (Charging e-bikes, GSM, notebooks, food / drink / coffee machines...) But the main part of this bike station in self-service kiosk on the ground. Its separated to three parts: -bike service place (covered service place with self service kiosk, work stand, electric bike pump, basin for washing dirty hands after having service and charger for e-bikes) - rest, snack and coffee place (Place where passers can sit, rest, have a snack and park their bikes; there are some wooden elements intended for sitting and parking bikes (bench + bicycle rack in one) and - the central core (Its kiosk with all machines and installations for cyclists and pedestrians to buy snack/coffee, have service on bikes and charge mobile devices/bikes). On one of the uncovered side of kiosk are lockers, where users can safely charge mobile devices and notebooks, there is also installed wireless point. On the other side is food/drink machine for cyclist, to use it like drive in, so not to step down from the bike. Despite central core kiosk, the space under the roof is opened, free and public allowing smooth self-service, everybody is welcome not just cyclists. In the first way, this design of self-service bike station is possible to place everywhere in the city. But at a given location, self-service bike station in placed on the sidewalks edge with cycle track and still allows pedestrians to walk past. But is also enough close cyclists to stop on drive in food/drink machine and enough far away from trees not to throw shadows on solar panels. Park could be involved just in a way of hanging out on grass, otherwise it shall be without any intervention. ECO-independent self-service bike station is place for short stops of any kind passers and new social place for citizens to have a snack, coffee and bike service or just hang out.

In my opinion there could be troble with the width of the bicycle lane. Therefor I decided to put it in the most with place of the lane, still my projects counts with approx. 12 m3 digging into the side of grass. As I was informed the lane now works mostly as oneway - therefor I made an option with the backward line from the traffic lights / cross-roads. Idea Crux of the matter of my idea lays in the quickness of serving the running through bicycle riders. I count with quick coffe, mobile charging on tohe way to work .. speed repairing on the way back etc. Conseguently I made a simple plug in / plug out system made of rubber holder - you just put the bike in , you drink your coffee sitting on the bike and you simply plug out. I think there is no reason to make specical side bc. holders and the ANOTHER sitting equipment for the clients. It would be also unpractical for the coffee/bar keeper. The system also allows to use the thing even the bar is closed yet. The height of the "bar" desk allows to plug under all common hights of handlebars. If needed there is an option to make some places higher by using the site banking. practicability I think that if there would be a real coffe/shop.. keeper, it is necessary to have connection of water, drain, electricity and at least stuff restroom with sink. From the point of view of the user I think the having of chance to visit restroom is welcomed and maybe also legislativelly claimed. sustainability I was trying to use the solar panels as maximum as I could . The solar active surface can be used on the front fixed and shifting part, even on the rooftop, / With some complications with shadows - / see cut drawing //. Construction I am using three containers . The front part plates are unmounted and replaced with with ALU sliding parts. The back part doors are respecting the container segmentation. Front telecopical system trimo panels are by reason of weight fullfiled with aluminium honeycomb - expectable weight 20KG per unit, the sliders are simple closed ALU U profiles - position is holded by inserting adjusting pole. The system is easy , but still allowing the keeper to lock the units, even by letting the public restroom opened - if necesarry. The

The proposal offers a detour from the speedy city lifestyle and connects bikers with the placid park area. Hidden in the slope, the narrow entrance intrigues you to go in and discover the inner space. Due to minor terrain adjustments, there is no need to dismount the bike to use all the facilities. Even if the containers should be removed, the site will provide extra experience for passers-by and bikers, and the pit-stop booth could be used elsewhere. Apart from the given functions bar and bike-workshop, the booth aims to be a cultural venue with possibilities of movie screenings or concerts, with natural seating area on the meadow. The booth is assembled of three container units, with walls made of TRIMO panels. The energy is obtained from PV panels placed on the roof as well as on the walls/sunblinds their position is adjustable, so they either serve as shelter or close the booth. Thanks to the terrain surrounding, extra insulation is provided and the booth maintains more stable temperature.

TRIMO URBAN CRASH Concept

CG2BP

The bike rack like transport, like a lifestyle. The bicycle as an undisputed/indispensable gadget everyday for everyone. In the same way that the keys, the mobile phone, the walletor going out wit shoes..The bicycle seems to be necessary in daily lifes for more and more citizens. A life in which electronic dependence is increasing. Mobile phone, mp3, tablets or, also electric bicycles. Our world moves on with batteries. Even ourselves, We often feel the need to load 'our batteries'. The cycle of them results as a limited life limiting our life. Therefore, the ability to synchronize all in one vital cycle' must become a need ... ...'charge your bike. charge your world. charge yourself' Materiality It is chosen an abatement strategy elements as fourfold as a basic space of a Trimo module. Thus, the basic modules expand its business beyond its skeleton. In turn, these drawdowns allow the furniture to hide within the panels, both indoors and outdoors. In the upper place, windows become tables and in the lower ones interior walls can absorb the coffee program by self-tray system. The external skin of the enclosure blurs modules ... The privacy that calls each program is determined by transparencies and drilling, in which the vegetation reflects and creates a dynamic organic facade. This skin is backlit by LED tubes hidden, so the nightlife on the cafeteria is allowed.

The Trimo Pavilion

The concept is to turn this site in to a 24-hour bike station, which facilitates bike servicing, a caf with charging points for phones and laptops, toilets, and cycling points. The space is unique because it changes between day and night via a mechanism at 2 points that rotate 2 of the containers. This allows for an ever- changing space.

A bike station should be more than just a pavilion for cyclists to rest. It should be a statement of intent, a space not just on the map, but a space in a diary, a journal, and a part of daily life.

During the day one container overhangs the main walkway along the site, making it impossible to miss for people who pass by. At night, this same container rotates to bridge the path leading up the site, acting as a gate for one of the entrances. The container furthest from the slope is free to rotate and sit wherever needed, day or night. This container is used for bike servicing, while the first container is used as a bar selling hot/cold drinks, sandwiches and nutritional snacks. The central container, which doesnt move, is where toilets are located, as well as lockers attached to the exterior. Sustainable, green energy is key for this concept. The cycling points, located within the rotation points, work by placing a bike in to the slots available and riding. The wheels of the bike turn another wheel inside the slots, which then produce energy for the site. The concept works from day one, where opening day begins with 0 electricity, by making an event of the opening, the community would gather to the site, volunteers would ride their bikes and the site would come alive. The big idea behind this is to get across that the community feels they run the site, from opening day until the day it closes, which would only be when people decide to stop using it. Its a fantastic opportunity to promote Trimo as a sustainable company, product and to encourage communities to ride bikes instead of driving and be healthy.

We challenge Trimo and its partners to energize the city! The poetics which the bicycle's positive energy bring to the urban environment is embodied via human-recharged "batteries" made possible through Trimo's modular solutions.
Three 20' standard Trimo modular container units create spaces for exhibit/seating areas and the bike quick repair shop. The three modules are encased on Akripol Aglas SS translucent PMMA colored cladding, which is fastened to the modular unit corners. The space receives natural daylight through the use of Aglas/Alux cast acrylic skylights. Spaces are vertically connected through an exterior stairway moving in analogy to a bicycle's chain. These feature thermoformed Aglas SS made guardrails. The third "battery", composed of vertically-mounted, insulated smooth profile curved Ivisio facade system panels with galvanized finish, houses the juice bar/pastry shop. Here, riders approach the bar area and place their bicycles on the stand. Once the bike is secure, he/she propels the dynamo at their own pedaling pace, powering his/her electronic device by using familiar and readily-available technology similar to that of the hand-cranked dynamo-based radio. During the day, the battery is energized by the metaphorically, in turn they go on to power the city. users, and

At night, using led strip lights mounted on the modular units, charged during the day via photovoltaic panels, our Bike Base is a glowing reminder of and what really powers the urban core: Humans in motion.

G4804_text explanation
The main idea of forming the BOXCYCLE, by joining 3 modular containers, is to achieve simple and yet for urban space very recognisable shape. Despite being simple box, object can transform its shape depending on time of use. In the wintertime it acts as a monolith closed capsule, a kind of shelter from bad and cold weather, while in the summertime it stays open, forming a kind of an open pavilion. As a open pavilion, BOXCYCLE consists of 4 boxes surrounded by open space. Boxes, with their spatial position, tries to follow existing, and also create new, dynamics in close surrounding of busy street. The main functions are placed inside these boxes, while the open interspace around serves as visible entrances. Object, placed on the pavement, is easy to construct, accessable for both cyclists and pedestrians, aims to become new meeting point and reason for other citizens to use bike instead of car.
