9. Read the following passage and answer the questions. Tom Thumb One day Tom went with his mother to milk the cow. It was rather windy, and his mother was afraid he would be blown away. So she tied him to a thistle with a piece of thread. However, when eating the thistles, the cow happened to choose the very one to which Tom was tied. Of course Tom went into the cows mouth along with the thistle. There he was very frightened and cried for his mother. When the good woman saw what had happened, she began to weep and wring her hands.
