PHONOGRAPH; The phonograph was perfected by Thomas Edison in 1878. The phonograph is a cylinder that is covered in wax.

Then the pressure from the artist that is recording on the other end of the cone, then makes its way down the funnel to where the pressure builds up so much at the bottom, the stylus etches grooves into the wax cylinder. Here, the depth of the grooves depend on the different frequencies that come from the artists on the other end of the cone. The phonograph was perfected by Thomas Edison in 1878. How it Works: The supply reel containing the tape is mounted on a spindle; the end of the tape is manually pulled out of the reel, threaded through mechanical guides and a tape head assembly, it is then attached by friction to the hub of a second empty reel. Vinyl is still bought today as the quality of the sound is still conceded the best, better than CD and digital formats. The format was originally made to store and play back sound recordings, soon after it was adapted to store data. Other formats were further resulting from these, such as write once audio and data storage known as (CD-R), rewritable media known as (CD-RW), video compact disc known as (VCD), super video compact disc known as (SVCD), photo cd, picture cd, cd-I, and enchanced music cd, audio cds and audio cd players had been avaliable since october 1982. Digital audio interchange is used for storing sound data for pc, and other electronic audio devices. The format was developed by Apple computer in 1988. Standard AIFF is a leading format. SDII and WAV used by profession level audio and video applications citation needed. The better known lossy mp3 format, it is uncompressed. Digital audio tape is a signal recording and playback medium developed by sony and introduced in 1987. Similar to compact cassette, the recording is digital rather than analog. DAT has the ability to record at higher, equal or lower sampling rates than a cd. Like most formats of videocassette, a DAT cassette is only able to record and played in one direction. The mini disc was first introduced in 1991 and invented by Sony. The mini disc worked on the same principle as the compact disc but the mini disc made it easier to travel with.
