As soon as 1972, Agri-Truffe signed a partnership with the INRA. 25 years later, research gave birth to the first truffle mycorhized plants. Through the years, the partnership has developped. Agri-Truffe brings its irreplaceable nurseryman expertise and know-how and the INRA its scientific progress. We list all our seeds and truffles origins before inoculating our plants. This means that there is a real traceability of each host plant/truffle. At the end of the production process, the Agri-Truffe plant will have been verified 10 times by our teams, and one last time by the INRA. Each certified plant gets a numbered label which guarantees its quality.

Plant
The better your plant, the better your truffle field. First, make sure that the soil of your plot and the weather of the region are suitable for the truffle production. Those conditions are indispensable. The soil analysis made by a specialised laboratory will give the go-ahead or not to the creation of a truffle field. The presence of natural truffle fields in the area is a positive indicator. You must also verify the previous history of the plot and never plant on a recent clearing : this should stop you for good. The soil preparation must be done carefully and at the right time. As for the choice of the species, you should plant what grows better in a natural form. We will help you to make the good decision. Density depends on the soil, the plant species and the type of truffle. You will receive your truffle seedling in 425 cm 3 pots with an explanatory leaflet. Present all over France, we help you at every step of the plantation in order for you to make the best out of your truffle fields.

Cultivate
The implementation of a truffle farm, intensive or extensive, will depend on the type of soil, on the climate (Mediterranean or Continental), on the possibility to water or not and on the planters profile and presence on the field, permanent or occasional. Based on the advise of a technician and after reading specialised books, you will have to chose between different methods, to implement it in a sensible way, taking into account the most recent technical progress. 3 steps have to be taken into account in the life of a truffle plant : The plant installation (1 to 3 years) : this delicate phase requires careful attention; The development of the mushroom (4 to 7 years) : appearance of brls; The production and harvesting of truffles.

Harvest
The brl appears between 4 to 7 years : it indicates the existence , underground, of future truffles which will appear 2 to 3 years later. Production is statistically faster with holm oak or hazel tree. The truffle will appear at the end of May, beginning of June. It will grow at the beginning of August and will reach maturity next winter. You will harvest it when it becomes completely ripe, with its flesh black. Harvesting can be made at different times : from December to March for Tuber melanosporum; from September to December for Tuber uncinatum. The truffle may show on the surface or grow 30 to 40 cm below the ground. An efficient and well trained dog will be your inseperable companion for the cavages or hunting. Not content with harvesting truffles, you will also enjoy working with this faithful partner. You and your dog will not find all the truffles. So much the better ! They will help to next years sowing and to the production perpetuation.
