Thank you for the privilege of attending the Southern Baptist Convention in Houston, Texas and then our

Grandsons Dedication in Melbourne, Fl. I will be speaking about the convention in the weeks ahead as I learned many new things and am eager to share. While attending the worship services at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne, Fl, I noted a special emphasis that was taking place in that church. The emphasis was called, Step Up to the Plate, and involved each church member being challenged to step up to the plate during the summer months and not leave the church on second. Each member was asked to commit to being in worship and Sunday School ten out of the twelve weeks of summer. This emphasis included a testimony from a Sunday School member during the worship hour and included being faithful in our giving through the summer also. I thought that was a novel approach to common problem of almost every church. Almost all churches experience summer flight from attendance. It is sad that this happens. It is reflected not only in our attendance numbers but in our offering and in our ministries. It is okay to go on vacation and do special things with families and friends. It is never okay to ignore God and His house. If you are in town you should be in church! I look forward to seeing you this Sunday. CELEBRATION OF THE 4TH

The evening worship time on June 30 will be a celebration of God and Country. We have chosen to use this time to honor our nation and its place in Gods plan for the world. Invite friends and neighbors to join you that evening at 6:30.

SUMMER SLIDE IN
The summer months are a great time to slide-in to the fun of Chancel Choir. The music tends to be more familiar and upbeat and we often have more time in our preparation. That means, we learn at a slightly slower pace and have more fun singing. Join us Wednesdays at 7:45 in the Choir Room. See if God may be calling you and your voice to serve Him through Chancel Choir.
