A. GENERAL INFORMATION OF WEST LAMPUNG

West Lampung is one of 14 regency in Lampung. It is formed at August 16 1991, it is also dominated by mountain range and coastal area along the beach in west. Wide area of West Lampung 4,950 sq km or 13.99% of the area of Lampung province, 57% of the area is forested and 43% of the remaining area is habitable land is divided into 14 districts and 172 vilages. West Lampung population numbered 365,999 people, most of them (71.55%) live and work in the countryside. In general, they rely on agriculture and as a livelihood. And it has Boundaries: Northern Boundary Southern boundary Western boundary Eastern Boundary : Bengkulu Province : Indian Ocean : Indian Ocean : North Lampung, Central Lampung

West Lampung regency is one division of the North Lampung, the city thousands in Liwa. Liwa election as West Lampung regency capital is appropriate. Some reasons reinforce this statement is:

The place is strategic because it is in the middle of West Lampung region, so in order to control all areas of West Lampung regency government will be effective.

Liwa is a road traffic junction from different directions, namely South Sumatra, Bengkulu, and Lampung itself. About the origin of the name Liwa, according to the story, derived from the words "meli iwa" (Lampung language), means buying fish. It is said that formerly Liwa is a fertile area, vast rice fields, so the abundant agricultural products. Liwa is also the name of one of the clans of 84 clan in Lampung.

B. TOURISM IN WEST LAMPUNG There are so many beautiful place that we can visit in west Lampung. They are history and cultural tourism, marine tourism, nature and ecotourism. a. History and Cultural Tourism Cultures of West Lampung

Cultures of West Lampung is very private use, West Lampung is known as The Origin of Lampung. There are some Ceremony in West Lampung. Archeological Sites

Ancient relics located in pekon Purawiwitan, 60 miles from Liwa is a complex Menhir stones neatly arranged that guessed as meeting place and ancestor worship. There are also prehistoric sites Batu Brak, Batu Jagur prehistoric sites, Temang Purajaya Stone site, there is also Kubu Batu waterfall, Umbul Batu

Sekura Party is held every Lebaran day and Teluk Stabas Festifal is held every July, the Festival activities include: Rafting, Nature Exploration, Travel Kebut Liwa, Kites, Do Damar, Beach Volley, racing mountain Pesagi, Goat runway, Muayak, Creative Dance Competition, Regional Song Contest, Contest MuliMekhanai.

b. Marine Tourism Tanjung Setia Beach

Tanjung Setia Beach in west Lampung has been a popular tourism for foreign tourist. It is located in Pekon Bumi Agung, Biha, around 22 km from Krui, and it is known as a hidden paredise. Then the wave in this beach is second to both Bali and Nias. Not only the sand is very fine graine, but also the condition there which very comfortable, because it is very clean. Dont be surprised if there are so many foreign tourist there in Juli to October, they always look for the wave to surf, and the wave can go up to 7 meters. There are 15 cottage in along the beach if you want to stay there for a while.In this beach the visitors can swimming, diving, picnic, surfing, and ride the bicycle around the beach. Sunset Labuan Jukung

Besides the beauty and cleanliness of the beach, in Labuan Jukung we can also enjoy the atmosphere of the day when his eyes sunset (Sunset) are no less beautiful Kuta Beach Bali. Fishing Blue Merlin

International Fishing is an activity of fish Blue Merlin, not a few foreign tourists who do fishing activities Blue Merlin here.Blue Merlin is just fish habitat in Coastal Waters. Pesagi mountain is highest mountain in Lampung. The hight of the mountain is 2000 above sea level. The weather is so cold and it has beautiful scenery. The condition is natural. We can enjoy the panorama and it has a challenge for climber especially. Pesagi mountain usually used to climbing and many people visit the mountain just to conquer the challenge. Some of them come from Lampung and the others from another province.

Paragliding

Besides the beautiful scenery of lake, the paragliders can enjoy paragliding and observe the beautiful panorama at a height 400 metres. We can enjoy the beautiful panorama while flying we can see ranau lake, mount seminung, and rice fields of the height. Paragliders take off on the mandi angin hill. The facility of this site is competent enough.

Waterfalls Purajaya

Waterfall with a height of 20 m is located in Pekon Purajaya, 60 miles from Liwa. Characteristic of this waterfall is a three-story water fall. To the location of natural scenery is stunning, with areal expanse of verdant paddy fields are interspersed with ponds.

Rafting in Way Besai

Known to have a Class II rapids, so do not be surprised if every year many people visit here for Rafting activities, and visitors not only from Lampung but also many who come from outside Lampung like Java etc. Way besai river is a river which has unic point and usually the river ised to rafting. The river is located in sumber subdistrict. If we like adventure and challenge we can visit there. We sail through the river about 3 km and of course we will guided the professional rafting. The facilities is good enough.

Ranau Lake

Ranau Lake is one lake that is quite famous in Lampung. Ranau Lake is currently divided into two parts, namely Palembang and Lampung Barat, Ranau Lake is located in the western part of Lampung Lampung Lombok pekon West, 24 miles from Liwa, the lake is surrounded by hills and Mount Seminung.

Here has been built facilities Hotel, Meeting Room, Room Relax and cottages cottage distinctively traditional house scattered on the lake shore.

Provided for Recreation Boat Motor and rowing boats (boats), other than that there we can also enjoy the natural hot springs of the spring in the foothills of Mount Seminung.

Suoh Lake

Suoh Lake is one of the lake in west lampung beside Ranau Lake. The area of this lake around 100 hectare. The temperature in this area around 290 C to 330 C. The journey to go to this area is special experience, because the way to go to this area is so hard and it is off road. We need special car (off road car) if we want to visit there.

d. Ecotourism Taman Nasional Bukit Barisan Selatan (TNBBS)

Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park is one of the world heritage rainforest areas in particular forests, biodiversity and with all Kubu Perahu Waterfall.

Conservation of Marine in West Lampung

Conservation approach in setting Pekon Tembulih Estuary, Sukanegara, Brass Building and Island Cahya Betuah as Regional Marine Conservation Area is based on the number of turtles that can be found in almost the entire coast of West Lampung. This region is part of the Regional Marine Conservation Area (KKLD) West Lampung. There are 4 types of turtles that stopped at the injection ecotourism hawksbill, olive ridley turtle, green turtle and leatherback turtles. It also found the dolphins and whales, although no information on species of dolphins and whales were found and the exact direction of migration.

Gulai Bebat

Gulai Bebat would be delicious when mixed with fern leaf (Nails) and petai (Petakh tuha), and spiked (tikhancah) dried fish (iwa nyangu). Curry dressing can last two to three days home well heated, and tend to feel more and more delicious. Some people say that reheated curry dressing (bandage goulash tangandop) tasted more delicious. Dodol Tomat

Dodol Tomat is a creation from the society in West Lampung. And it is also can be hand gift if you visit there. E. Transportation The condition of the the transportation in West Lampung is not good at all.
