Flkt Woods and Vision Ventilation offering Natural Ventilation Solutions

Flkt Woods in partnership with Vision Ventilation LLP offers a wide range of natural ventilation solutions. Natural ventilation systems are intended to provide sufficient outside air to achieve appropriate standards of air quality and to provide cooling when needed. Since the cooling capacity of natural ventilation is limited, a key design challenge is to limit heat gains through good solar control and careful management of the internal gains. The use of natural ventilation can include, but are not restricted to the following market sectors: Commercial offices and buildings Industrial factories Eco homes and developments Public and government buildings Schools Hospitals Shopping centres

Testing
We can also provide full scale prototyping and testing. The images show to the left are of the prototype for Mossbourne Community Academy.

CFD / 3D Modelling
As leading pioneers in our specialist fields, Flkt Woods has one of the largest networks of facilities for testing entire air climate solutions. Our dedicated laboratory in Colchester is unique in the UK. The laboratory is equipped to demonstrate and prove natural ventilation product performance and control strategies. We have further research and development facilities in Sweden, Finland, France and the USA.

Types of Natural Ventilation

DISPLACEMENT VENTILATION
High occupancy levels during teaching periods require energy-efficient and controllable demand-based management of air quality and temperature. The comfort, health and alertness of staff and pupils is ensured during the learning process, but operating costs can be minimised when these facilities are unoccupied.

SINGLE SIDE VENTILATION

Works on the principle of air turbulence with air entering at low level. This system achieves relatively low ventilation rates and only works up to a certain depth of room.

CROSS FLOW VENTILATION

With vents opening on both sides of the building this uses the pressure difference across the space to create air movement through the space. The vents can be at low and high levels or at the same level.

HYBRID NATURAL VENTILATION

In Hybrid (Mixed Mode) ventilation the airflow is due to wind and buoyancy through purposely installed openings in the building envelope supplemented, when necessary, by mechanical systems. The mechanical component of the hybrid system can be a fan for increasing the ventilation rate, and/or a heat exchanger for heating or cooling the outdoor supply air.
