Our History
According to the address read by the Nanka Patriotic Union during the commissioning ceremony; sometime in the 1980s the OfuObi Age Grade (young adults in their late teens and early twenties then) of Agbiligba, Nanka commenced a noble initiative aimed at establishing a standard health facility capable of providing comprehensive health care services to the people of Nanka and beyond. What motivated the Age-Grade to embark on this Project was the fact that Nanka, erosion- ravaged but the most populated community in the Local Government, depended on a Primary Health Care Facility set up through community effort in 1949. The commissioning of OOCHC changed the situation. The Project was started after approval, on 7th May, 1991, by the Anambra State Ministry of Health, Enugu. In 1993 the then Grade couldnt continue. Various fund raising activities were conducted to facilitate the completion. One of them was in 2001 when the then Governor of Anambra State, Dr Clement Chinweoke Mbadunuju, promised to see to the completion and equipping of the hospital. It stopped there. The promises were not fulfilled. Nothing was done. The project became overgrown by bush. It became a hideout for criminal elements in the community. The health of People of Nanka became even more endangered. In 2006, through the hand of God, the Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, EEPNL, with approval of NNPC, decided to extend its corporate social responsibility to

Community Activities
We continue to engage the community members beyond the facility. In an outreach program in Amaokwe Village, Agbiligba, on the 13th of February, we mobilized more than 100 people, who benefitted from the talks. All persons who attended the activity received medical consultation from qualified doctors and other medical personnel; all adults were screened for high blood pressure and blood sugar; while those who had the indication received treatment for diabetes, hypertension, worm infestation and malaria On the 2nd of March, we were invited to, and allowed to participate in the meeting of the Women group of EtiNanka; the opportunity allowed us to share health information to the women group. The women encouraged us albeit, sharing testimonies of Gods miracles on the lives of people they know through our facility. The confidence they reposed on us and the soul moving prayer they bequeath on us will keep us challenged to continually improve our services to meet the need of our people. These community activities have further strengthened our knowledge about the health situation in Nanka and environs; the knowledge that is helping us modify our

programs to ensure that the needs of our people are better met. Our plan is to continue to identify more opportunities for engaging community members. We plan to conduct free screening for diabetes and hypertension in all the villages in Nanka. Several cultural and social activities take place in Nanka; these provide opportunity for reaching our people effectively. We request for information of such occasions, to enable us participate in them. We have enjoyed patronage, support, guidance and encouragement from a great number of Nanka leaders. We thank them and hope for more support from them and other leaders to enable us meet the needs of our people.

Quality Improvement
We are dedicated to quality improvement; effort is continually made to identify best practices that will improve the quality of services that we render. We have adopted an electronic information management system that facilitates client management; while we have engaged our staff and service providers in thorough and ongoing capacity building exercises, which has enhanced our staffs capacity even beyond health care provision. These have led to continued improvement; our client waiting time has continued to decrease while complains which occurred in high numbers when we started have started turning into volumes of commendations. Our client relationship has improved over time; we want to do better. We ask that you access our services; monitor our services; and critique our services, as we are a learning organization ready to improve.

From Our Clients

Feedback from our clients drive our intentions. We got feedback from four women when we met them in the communities while on community outreach activities: Mrs. Pauline Mba (08064269428) an indigene of Enugu, Nanka was one of the women present during the meeting of the women group of Enugu Village in Nanka. During our community outreach program with the women group, Mrs. Mba engaged the crowd unsolicited to describe how her daughter had suffered an ear problem which took them to many facilities before they visited ours (OOCHC). She described how she almost lost hope of getting the right treatment for her daughter when she observed that the medical team was made up of youthful persons and lost hope when she was told that her fee was one hundred naira after her daughter had received all her treatment and medication. She was overwhelmed with joy when after two days of her daughter using the medication prescribed by our medical personnel, her ear problem was entirely controlled.

Our commitment to quality improvement drives our training programs which are designed to ensure that our staff provide the best of services.
