VMWare Player is my favourite virtualization software. I use it to test a lot of Linux Distributions, on both Windows and Linux. In this article I will show you what you have to do for a successful installation, but I will not guide you for the Next -> Next -> Finish steps. Lets start installing VMWare player on Ubuntu 13.04. 1. Install the needed dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r`

2. Download VMWare Player from the official site. 3. Add execution permissions on the VMWare downloaded file:

Tags
bash bash trick bash tricks
caffeine centos cinnamon

$ cd ~/Downloads $ chmod +x VMware-Player-*.bundle

debian debian sid

debian squeeze

debian wheezy
4. Execute VMWare-Player and continue the installation from the Graphical User Interface:
desktop environment

fedora

fedora 17 fedora 18
fedora 19 FreeBSD

games on linux gnome kde

$ sudo ./VMware-Player-*.bundle kernel Knoppix libreoffice

This is everything. Enjoy.

you need to accept the terms to continue with the graphical installation. you have either to scroll down the term list to unlock continue / next, either to thick some box saying you accept Reply
