Mr. Vicente R. Aylln has been with The Insular Life Assurance Co. Ltd. for 55 years. His career is an inspiring story of staunch integrity and lifelong hard work which all started with his entry to the Company as a Junior Clerk in early 1955 at the Public Relations Office. He was then transferred to the Group Insurance Department of the Sales Division where he steadily rose from the ranks. In 1977, he became President, a post he held for more than 25 years. Presently, he is Insular Lifes Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Aylln has been through the worst possible business challenges that any leader could face, including15 years of the Philippine Martial Law, two People Power revolutions, two major financial crises (i.e. Asian Contagion and Subprime Crisis), and the liberalization of the Philippine life insurance industry. Under Mr. Ayllns visionary leadership, Insular Life was able to: Complete a 10-year transition from a stock to a mutual company where Insular Life paid off previous stockholders and effectively handed over ownership of the Company to its policyholders. Mutualization aligned Insular Lifes focus and efforts towards policyholders. Diversify into allied financial services (i.e. banking and investment management) as well as venture into health care maintenance and mutual building & loans. Remain a formidable force despite the life insurance industrys acceptance of new foreign insurance companies in 1994. o Pre- and Post-Liberalization average annual growth of Insular Lifes First Year business has remained robust at 16%. Pursue the merger of its Insular General Insurance with Corporacion Mapfre of Spain to form Mapfre Insular Insurance Corporation, which is now in the top 5 non-life insurance companies in the country. Establish a solid asset/liability management program through portfolio refinement that spoke of balanced investments in real estate, equities and bonds. Receive the prestigious Rearders Digest Gold SuperBrand (Insurance Category), a seal regarded as an accurate index of consumer preference and a genuine recognition of consistent quality in the eyes of consumers. Reach its 100th year anniversary still in the league of the industry movers and very much true to being a company created by Filipinos for the Filipinos.

Steadily contribute to nation-building through uplifting the lives of the Filipinos by giving scholarship opportunities for the youth, increasing the quality of school principals, and financial literacy programs to the broad population. Mr. Ayllns spirit of innovation is reflected in Insulars: Launching of pioneer landmark industry practices like Direct Marketing, Industrial Insurance, Rewards Program for policyholders as well as launch the Insular Life Registered Financial Consultants Club, the first in the world to be accredited by the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants. Strengthening of its customer servicing thrust by adopting the Magandang Araw, translated as Good Day in English, program which aims to provide policyholders with the unique Filipino customer service experience characterized by warm, caring and personalized servicing. Launching of new applications to enhance processes responsiveness to internal (management and staff) and external (agency and policyholders) needs, such as the integrated voice response system, the customer and agency portals, and website enhancements for 24/7 information needs. Mr. Ayllns conviction on the value and noble purpose of insurance led him to co-found the Philippine Life Insurance Association and was its first President, a post he held for three (3) consecutive years (19851987). His notable international affiliations include the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association (LIMRA), where he served as the first Filipino International Director (19961999). Mr. Ayllns contribution to the industry is reflected in the following: Growing Insular Life, in terms of assets, from P0.6B in 1977 to P71.2B in 2010, reflecting a 15% compounded annual growth in the stretch of 33 years. This

makes Insular Life the largest Filipino-owned insurance company, larger than all the other Filipino-owned companies combined. Encouraging excellence through continuous education of its employees evident by Insular Lifes achievement of its 13th Excellence in Education Award from the Life Office Management Association, making it the only company to receive the award the most years so far. Mr. Aylln has earned various citations including: 1991 Most Distinguished Alumnus in Business Management from the University of the East (UE) Alumni Association 1993 Most Outstanding Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senator in the Field of Insurance from the Philippine Jaycees Senate He is a long-standing member of institutions like the Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific, Management Association of the Philippines, and Philippine Insurers Club. He is also an active member of the Philippine Jaycee Senate and the Rotary Club of Makati. He is a sought after speaker and resource person in various events of the insurance industry, such as in the Philippine Life Insurance Congress of LUAP/MDRT last March 7, 2011, and other socio-civic organizations, such as in the Rotary Club last May 24, 2011. In the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr. Aylln is the prime mover of The Insular Life Foundation. Established in 1963 (then known as the Insular Life Educational Foundation, Inc.), The Insular Life Foundation is one of the first corporate foundations in the country. Since then, it has served thousands of school children attain higher education and achieve a better life through scholarship grants for college and technician courses. It also helped hundreds of teachers improve their knowledge and skills through in-service teacher training, and hundreds of principals develop better interpersonal and managerial skills to run their schools. Then and now, The Insular Life Foundation has always believed that investing in the development of the nation's human resources through education is a step toward making life better for the people in the communities we serve.
