PCoIPLatency,AveragePCoIPPacketLoss,PCoIPTXBandwidth,andPCoIPRxBandwithgiveyou informationabouttheconnectionqualitybetweentheViewclientandtheVMwareViewdesktopVM,which isrolledupacrosstheentireVDIenvironment.Thisgivesyouabetterideaofclientperformanceandhowthe userexperienceisaffected. TheVDITierHealthareapointstheVIAdministratortoproblemsilosintheVDIenvironment,suchasthe StorageTier.TheVIAdministratorcanexaminethestoragetiersinmoredetailbydrillingintothedatastores thatareassociatedwiththeVMwareViewpools.IfallthehealthindicatorsacrosstheVDITierHealtharea areyelloworred,thehealthofthecomponentdatastoragemayaffectthehealthoftheentiretier,whichthe VIAdministratorcanseebyquicklyreviewingtheseicons. NOTENotethattheVDIHealthTreeandVDITierHealthisnotnecessarilyanindicationofbehavioror currentperformance,butinsteadwithrespecttohowitsbehavedinthepast.vCenterOperationsManager forViewcollectsallmetricsandlooksfortrendsandpatterns.Itlearnswhattypesofbehaviortoexpectfrom eachoftheresourcesitismonitoring. AverageSessionLogonTimeandAverageSessionReconnectTimeprovideinformationthatisaveraged acrossallconnectionscurrentlyinyourVMwareViewenvironment. AtthebottomoftheVDIEnvironmentIndicatorssection,RecentDesktopLaunchErrorsandRecentDesktop ProvisioningErrorsgivethenumberoferrorsoverthelastcollectioninterval. AttheupperrightoftheViewMaindashboard,theactivealertsassociatedwithVMwareViewspecific resourcesinyourVDIenvironmentdisplayunderVDIAlerts.Forexample,foraparticularclient,youmay seeacertainpercentageofpacketloss,andyoumaywanttofindwherethatclientisconnectingfrom,suchas fromtheInternetorIntranet,andexaminepossiblecausesforthepacketloss.Youcandoubleclickonthese iconstogetmoreinformation,anddrillintoeachalertconditiontotroubleshoottheissuefurther. TheViewUsersdashboardisespeciallyusefulforaHelpdeskspecialist,whoassistspeoplethatcontactthe Helpdeskwithperformanceissueswiththeirdesktopsorsomesimilarreason. Ifanydesktoporanyofitsrelatedobjectshasanalert,therewillbearedtriangleshownwiththatobjectsicon. Toviewthealert,selecttheobjectinthetreeandthenclicktheShowAlertsiconinthebuttonbarabovethe tree.Allcurrentalertsfortheobjectwilldisplayinapopupwindowandyoucannavigatetothealertsdetails bydoubleclickinganalertinthislist. Forexample,thealertmayshowaWastebadge,whichmayindicatethatusersprovisioningmaybeabithigh. Drillingdownonadesktopshowingproblemsisagoodwaytogetstatusinformationonobjectsassociated withtheuserissueyouareinvestigating.Thismayshowoutofnormalranges,basedonhistoricaltrends,for thingslikedatastoredemand,ortheprovisioneddiskspaceforthatusermaybeabithigherthannormal. TheMetricSelectorshowsallmetricscollectedfortheobjectcurrentlyselectedintheHealthTree.Forany object,theremaybeasmanyas50ormoremetricsthatarebeingmonitoredontheclient,VM,desktop,and soforth.Anymetricsthatarecurrentlyexhibitingabnormalbehavior,basedonpasthistory,arehighlighted withayellowiconandmayneedfurtherinvestigation. NOTEvCenterOperationsManagerforViewandvCenterOperationsManagerEnterprisearedesignedto collectdataandevaluateitbasedonpastbehaviortodeterminewhatisnormalvs.abnormalbehavior. Determiningabnormalbehaviorforaparticularuser,desktop,VM,orotherinfrastructureobjectrequires investigationandevaluationbytheHelpdeskspecialistand/orVIAdministratortoanalyzeandresolvethe issue. InterestingMetricsshowthecurrentvalueandbriefhistoryofmetricsthatmaybeimportantforthecurrently selectedobject.ImportantMetricsareusuallythosethatareoutsidetheirexpectedrange,exceedinga threshold,ormarkedasakeyindicator. Whenanalyzingandinterpretinginterestingmetrics,youmayseeagraybar,whichindicatestheexpected rangeforaparticulargroupofmetrics.UnderInterestingMetricsyoumightseeananomalyorseethatsome metricsareabovethedynamicthresholdsforaparticulardesktop.Youcanpickothermetricsforfurther analysisbyselectingthemintheMetricSelectorandclickingtheMovetoGraphicon,andgethistorical graphswhicharealsoshowninthelistofInterestingMetrics. Youcanadjustthetimerange,fromarangeofvaluesfromthelasthour,last24hours,andsoforth,andthe graphsrescalesoyoucanseethebehavioroveradifferentrangeandseeadifferentsetofdata. RootCauseRankingshowsalistofmetricsthatarecurrentlyoutoftheirexpectedrangefortheselectedobject oritsrelatedobjects.Thislistgivesyouarankedorderofmetricanomaliesyoucanusetostartinvestigating anissuewiththecurrentlyselectedobject.
