The Institute undertakes a wide range of basic and applied R&D projects spanning the areas of chemistry, biology and engineering. The Institute has excellent infrastructure by way of sophisticated analytical instruments, modern laboratories, pilot plants, library, local area network and workshop. Post-wise details regarding Essential Educational Qualification, Job Requirement & Experience are as under: Post 1 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Bio-inorganic chemistry (UR) Job Requirement: To utilize knowledge of coordination chemistry to understand the structure and function of metal ions/metal complexes in marine macro- and micro-algal systems.

Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in inorganic coordination chemistry; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D in inorganic coordination chemistry with 2 years of additional relevant experience. Candidates must provide evidence of publications/patents relevant to the area of the job. Post 2 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Membrane Applications (UR) Job Requirement: To develop innovative applications of charged membranes with focus on energy and environment Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in the area of Membrane Science/Electro-membrane Processes; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D in the area of Membrane Science/Electro-membrane Processes with 2 years of additional relevant experience. Candidates must provide evidence of publications/patents/technology development relevant to the area of the job. Post 3 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Environmental Science (UR) Job Requirement: To undertake research projects involving analysis of diverse inorganic and organic pollutants and source identification pertaining to problems of contemporary importance. A strong background in environmental science and sophisticated analytical methodologies is essential. The selected candidate will also engage in field work. Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in the area of Environmental Science/Environmental Chemistry/Pollution Monitoring; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D in the area of Environmental Science/Environmental Chemistry/Pollution Monitoring with 2 years of additional relevant experience. Candidates must provide evidence of publications/patents/technology development relevant to the area of the job. Post 4 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Science Dissemination in Hindi (UR) Job Requirement: The Candidate will be responsible for coordinating all manner of activities to project effectively the science and technology developments of the institute in Hindi and also to comply with statutory requirements. Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in any branch of Science/Engineering; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D (Sci.) in any branch with 2 years additional experience relevant to the job or Ph D (Engg.). Candidates must have strong language skills both in Hindi and English. Those having formal qualification in science journalism/communication will be preferred. Post 5 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Environmental Engineering (OBC) Job Requirement: To undertake research to assess quantitatively the movement of contaminants and their fate in the environment in target coastal locations and industrial belts. The candidate will additionally be expected to propose End-of-pipe solutions. Other responsibilities will include working as part of a team on specific EIA and environmental audit projects. Knowledge of various environmental modeling software including GIS is desirable. Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: M E/M Tech in Environmental Engineering; for the post of Senior Scientist: M E/M Tech in Environmental Engineering with 3 years additional experience relevant to the job. Post 6 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Chemical Engineering (SC) Job Requirement: The Candidate will focus on scale up of newly developed patented processes with a view to commercializing the inventions. 2

Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: M E/M Tech in Chemical Engineering; for the post of Senior Scientist: M E/M Tech in Chemical Engineering with 3 years additional experience relevant to the job. Post 7 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Algal cultivation (OBC) Job Requirement: To undertake research projects which seek to advance techniques of cultivation of marine macro- and micro-algae to improve productivity, scalability and environmental acceptability. Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in algal research; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D in algal research with 2 years additional experience relevant to the job. Post 8 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Agricultural Science (ST) Job Requirement: To undertake research projects involving agricultural studies related to development of agropractices, plant improvement, breeding and soil characterization for the development of wastelands. The candidate should have strong statistical analysis ability. Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: Ph. D. (submitted) in Agricultural Science/Agronomy/Plant breeding; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph. D. in Agricultural Science/Agronomy/Plant breeding with 2 years additional experience in statistical methods. GENERAL CONDITIONS 1. Relaxation as per rules shall apply to candidates from reserved categories/departmental candidates. Candidates will be placed in Pay Band 3 with Grade Pay of Rs 7600/- or Rs 6600/- depending upon the performance of the candidate subject to meeting the minimum criterion specified. 2. Scientists in Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/- and Rs. 7600/- are given two additional increments after their normal pay fixation. The emoluments indicated in (3) above are inclusive of the increments. It may be noted that these increments are not treated as a part of pay for any purpose. 3. Scientists in PB-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/- and Rs.7600/- are eligible for Professional Update Allowance @ Rs.10, 000/- per annum. 4. The posts carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government employees as made applicable to CSIR employees of the same pay and status stationed at this Institute. 5. The service is pensionable based on defined contribution under the New Pension Scheme as made applicable to Council employees w.e.f. 1.1.2004. However, persons selected from other Government Departments / Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector Undertakings / Central Universities having Pension Scheme on GOI pattern will continue to be governed by the existing Pension Scheme i.e. CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972. 6. 7. Scientists are entitled for Career Advancement on the basis of Flexible Complementary Scheme of CSIR. The Director, CSMCRI, Bhavnagar reserves the right not to fill up any or all the posts, if he so decides.

8. Relaxation in age limit will be allowed to SC/ST/OBC/PH and other notified categories as per the Govt. of India orders applicable from time to time. However, age relaxation to SC/ST/OBC candidates is applicable only in cases where the Posts are reserved for them. 9. The cut-off date for determining the age, qualification & experience of a candidate will be the last date for receipt of applications. 3

10. Relaxation in age limit up to five years may be allowed to the Council / Government / Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time. 11. Relaxation in age limit, qualification and / or experience in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates may be considered. Higher initial pay may be considered for exceptionally meritorious and deserving candidates. 12. Mere fulfillment of essential educational qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for Test and / or interview. The decision of the Director, CSMCRI, in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection, conduct of interview will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this connection from any candidate or his/her agency. 13. Applications from employees working in Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings, Central Universities and Government funded Research Agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved in case of selection within one month of receipt of offer of appointment. 14. The period of experience in the requisite discipline / area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualification required for the post. 15.
