About NEIS The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) is a self-employment program funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). NEIS helps eligible unemployed people become self supporting and independent of Centrelink by establishing and running their own business. The NEIS program started in 1985 and is Australias longest running and most successful employment program. After completing their NEIS year most participants are either still in business, employed and/or in some form of education or training. 6,000 businesses a year are established in Australia under this worthwhile program. To ensure the success of the program, NEIS providers carefully select people with viable business ideas. The goal of NEIS is to help you set up a sustainable business. Australian Business Development Centre (ABDC for short) have been NEIS specialists since the program began. We now operate in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. We get to know you from your first enquiry and befriend you and support you through the training and the mentoring phases of the program.

NEIS Assistance Includes: NEIS Training You need a viable business idea before you can be accepted into training e.g. you must be able to predict you could make at least $20,000 in your first year and more in your second year. If accepted after interview, you will need to complete a training program. In response to customer preferences, we mostly offer Certificate III in Micro Business Operations. As you are in receipt of income support, this becomes an Approved Activity with Centrelink which will exempt you from looking for work. Australian Business Development Centre offers training over approximately 8 weeks courses of 2-3 days per week, 1 day workshops, or entirely online for remote students. Over this period of time you are expected to research your business idea, read the training resources you will be given, and write your business plan. You will receive help to develop this business plan as part of your training. The Training Course covers: Researching opportunities, business planning, business and legal requirements, promotional strategies, resources and operating systems, financial plans & bookkeeping
