DIVISION 2- SITE WORK SECTION 02735 - SITE FURNISHINGS AND PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT PART 1 - GENERAL 1.

01 DESCRIPTION This Section covers providing site furnishings and playground equipment as shown on the Construction Drawings and as specified herein, complete and acceptable to Company Representative. Certain items identified in this Section may occur at one Job Order but not the other. 1.02 REFERENCE CODES AND STANDARDS: A. B. Comply with applicable Codes and Standards as specified herein. Safety Standard: All products must conform to the requirements of ASTM F148795, including structural strength testing, and be certified to conform to same under the auspices of IPEMA (International Playground Equipment Manufacturers Association), through an independent, third party testing laboratory, as specified by IPEMA. All resilient safety surfacing must exceed the requirements of ASTM 1292-93 standard of safety surfacing and must be tested to same by an independent, and accredited third party testing organization. Suppliers must provide proof of such compliance at the time they submit their bids to SAUDI ARAMCO. The resilient material proposed must be of sufficient thickness and resiliency to protect against injury from falls from the maximum fall height as described in ASTM F1487-95 from adjacent equipment. 1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. All play area equipment shall meet the latest edition of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission Standards. All materials shall be structurally sound and acceptable for safe play. CONTRACTOR shall acquire and review the manufacturer's specifications for all equipment that is listed in this Section. CONTRACTOR shall provide components, attachment devices and mechanically oriented equipment that match the quality of material provided in the manufacturer's specifications. Any play area equipment to be presented as a substitute will match or be equivalent to the manufacturer's specifications for the equipment listed. Specifications and catalogue pages for the substitute item shall be provided by the CONTRACTOR and submitted to Company Representative for approval. Standards, to include both design and manufacturing processes of the equipment. Certification of such conformance must be submitted with the bid. 1.04 SUBMITTALS A. Shop Drawings: 1. Submit to Company Representative manufacturer's literature for approval. Literature shall show conformance to referenced standards, with particular regard to safety. Show installation procedures, a list of all materials, quantities and their product numbers. Provide color selections for all equipment. Submit to Company Representative shop drawings for approval. Provide shop drawings to match the Drawings. Shop drawings shall show sufficient information including location of all critical components for play area equipment. Include details of joints, attachments, installations and clearances. All sizes in metric dimensions. CONTRACTOR shall review all colors chosen for all items listed in this Section with Company Representative for approval prior any items are purchased.

PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Deliver materials to the Site in their original containers in unopened packages, clearly labeled with the manufacturer's name, product identification and lot number, where appropriate. Protect all materials from damage during transit, handling, storage and installation.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 FABRICATED PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT ITEMS A. General: 1. 2. 3. All primary fasteners must be tamper proof, stainless steel or carbon steel plated to withstand an ASTM 1,000 hour salt fog test. All painted steel elements must be galvanized or electroplated to prevent corrosion. All painted item must be painted with a polyester powder coating, free of any toxic elements, as directed by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). All coatings and plastics must be fully UV stabilized. All plastic parts must exceed 2,700psi per ASTM D638 and must be warranted for 10 years, by the manufacture against structural failure. All Aluminum structural elements must be warranted, by the manufacturer, for 20 years, against structural failure and deterioration. All clamping mechanism must be made from 369.1 aluminum alloy and be true clamping devices, not attachments bolted to the posts. All deck platforms must have their top surface made from a single sheet of flange formed steel, no welded expanded metal surfaces shall be allowed. Maximum hole size in the top surface of the deck shall be .375 except for transfer decks that provide accessibility for the handicapped. All barriers and guard rails must attach to the face of the decks or in such away to eliminate any toe spaces that encourage children to climb on the outside of the structure. All slides must include a slide hood that requires the child to begin their slide from a sitting position. Single bars can be used as turning bars and therefore not allowed. Top caps on posts must be made from cast aluminum. All arch posts must be made from a single piece of material, no seams will be allowed. All hand loops, guard rails, barriers, decks, step assemblies and chains must be coated with a coating of baked on PVC that has been bonded to the underlying material and have a non-slip finish and is UV stabilized with a minimum thickness of .060 and have an 85 durometer hardness.

Posts shall be manufacturer's standard 115 MM (4") or 125mm (5") O.D., minimum 11 ga. (3mm/0.120") thick. Posts shall vary in length depending upon the intended use. Deck Components shall be manufactured each from a single piece of low carbon steel confirming to ASTM A-569. Material shall have a 9 gauge thickness and be reinforced as necessary to maintain structural integrity. All deck components shall be PVC coated. Color of decks shall be integrated with other play equipment. Chain Ladder shall consist of 19mm (3/4") O.D., 18 gauge plated tubing steps, fastened to a 4/0 plated chain. The upper and lower connections shall be permanent or tamper proof. Entire ladder shall be PVC coated. No S hooks are allowed to attach swing chains or any other chains, only hardened steel elements are allowed and all pivot points must have bushings or bearings.

Galvanized Steel: Components other than posts shall receive the same galvanized coating as described in Paragraph A.1., of this Section. Fasteners Primary structural fasteners shall be grade 5 button head screw featuring a pinned-hex socketed drive threading into a grade 5 pinned-hex flange nut. All pinned-hex hardware shall be minimum 10 mm (3/8") nominal diameter and must be finished with cadmium plating as a minimum. These bolts are to include a locking patch-type material. The material shall require a minimum of 4 times the installation torque to remove the fastener. Manufacturer shall provide special tools for pinned-hex fasteners. All primary fasteners must be tamper proof, stainless steel or carbon steel plated to withstand an ASTM 1,000 hour salt fog test. All connection devices and associated components shall be provided as per the specific manufacturer's specification for that assembly. CONTRACTOR shall review the detailed assembly information from the manufacturer to assure that all required items and materials are used properly.

Die-cast clamps are also acceptable. All clamps shall be provided according to manufacturer's design and specifications. CONTRACTOR shall coordinate with manufacturer's representative to assure quality of components. 3. F. Top Caps for Posts shall be aluminum die castings from 380 alloy, powder coated and secured in place with rivets which are self sealing.

Movable Assemblies shall meet the standards of the specific metal as recommended above. Self lubricated rollers, oil impregnated bushings and rubber bumpers shall be incorporated in moving mechanisms. Plastic components shall be stabilized against ultraviolet (UV) degradation and have molded in color for good color retention. Material shall comply with ASTMD-1248, Type 2, Class A and U.S. Government Specifications LP-390C, Type 1, Class M, Grade 2, Category 3. All plastic part must exceed 2700psi per ASTM D638 and must be warranted for ten years, by the manufacture against structural failure. 1. Slides shall be molded of linear low density polyethylene with a minimum wall thickness of 6.35mm (0.250"). A non-skid rotationally molded entrance section shall be required for the spiral slide. All slides must include a slide hood that requires the child to begin their slide from a sitting position. Single bars can be used as turning bars and therefore not allowed. Plastic Wall Panels shall be molded of cross link polyethylene with a minimum wall thickness of 6.35mm (0.250"). This panel shall be attached to the tunnel slide as well as used independently with other activity pieces. Activity Panels shall be molded of "Permalene", a compression padded 6.35mm (0.250") high density polyethylene or equal. Bubble Window shall be constructed of 6.35mm (0.250") clear polycarbonate. PVC Caps shall be provided at bottom end of posts to form a base and moisture barrier.

Vinyl Cladding: Components shall be primed, dipped in UV stabilized, mold resistant, liquid polyvinyl chloride, then oven cured at 205 deg.C (400 degrees F). The finish shall be no less than 2mm. (.080") with a minimum 85 durometer hardness and a matte finish. SECTION 02735

All items not vinyl clad shall be painted I. Paint shall be an electrostatically applied polyester powder coating which shall be cured at a temperature of 230 deg.C (450 deg. F) for 20 minutes free of any toxic elements, as directed by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). The polyester powder shall comply with ASTM Standards D-1734 (Flexibility Mandrel Test), D-2794 (Impact Resistance Test), B-117 (Salt Spray Test), D-2247 (Humidity Resistance Test), D-822 (Weatherability Test), D-3363 (Pencil Hardness Test), D-2454 (Overbake Resistance Test) and D-3359B (Adhesion Crosshatching Test). Spring Subassembly & Foot Ring for individual spring mounted units shall be as follows: 1. Spring subassembly shall have vandal resistant hardware and consist of an aluminum cast base plate, spring spacer and top attachment casting with the painted 150mm (6") diameter alloy steel spring. Provide kick plates to bridge differences in deck heights of up to 200mm (8") and deck plates between 1420mm (56") and 1780mm (70") decks.

PRECAST CONCRETE FURNITURE Fabricate benches and trash receptacle completely from precast concrete natural color. Bench seat to be smooth finish. Bench support & trash receptacle shall be exposed aggregate to match precast panels. See Drawings for location, type and quantity.

COLUMN PADDING Provide padding to all exposed steel columns of covered play area with # 00356-600-6'0" column pads with Velcro Fasteners by Porter or approved equal.

PLAY AREA SURFACE MATERIAL A. A synthetic surface material will be provided in the play area laid over a sloped asphalt sub-surface. The characteristics of this material are as follows: 1. Material: Polyurethane, resin bound tile composed of shredded rubber base with a binder or an approved equal. Material may be poured in place or provided as tile units as described herein. Tiles shall be "Tuff Turf" by Landscape Structures or Regupol "Type F" by Berleburger, or equal. Poured in place material shall be equal to "SAF DEK" by No Fault Industries, Inc. Size & Shape: All units will be modular, with a uniform size of 1000 mm x 1000 mm or 1000 mm x 500 mm. Each unit will be grooved to allow for drainage. Perimeter units will have edges beveled to allow for handicapped access. Unit depth will depend on usage of surface material and location. Strength should have the ability to resist drying and cracking due to heat exposure. Thickness: The material will be designed to resist serious injury based on falls from 1.829 M. (6'-0") above. Minimum thickness 50 mm in Covered Play Area. H.I.C. not to exceed 1000, tested in accordance with ASTM F1292. Application of Surface Material: Unit shall be glued to the subsurface and each other with manufacturer's approved adhesive. Poured in-place materials shall be applied by vendor approved applicators. Warranty: A five (5) year warranty protecting against defects in material and workmanship shall be provided.

Footings shall be of concrete for all individual post locations. Play event item footings shall be 305mm (12") diameter x 635mm (25") deep. Footings shall be coordinated with the site works. Footings for 127mm (5") diameter pipes shall be 305mm (12") diameter x 940mm (37") deep. These standards shall be used for each manufacturer's recommended footing location. Footing depths do not include the thickness of the play area synthetic surface material, which must be added to the overall depth. Follow the manufacturer's printed instructions for the use and installation of each product. Provide a complete installation free of scratches, dents, nicks, discoloration and other faults that damage the appearance or operation. Save all extra components, attachment devices and tools that are provided. Save all manuals and instructions. Turn over to the Company Representative upon completion of equipment set-up and before final inspection. Synthetic surface material shall be installed per manufacturer's recommendations.
