DIVISION 3 - CONCRETE SECTION 03100 -CONCRETE FORMWORK PART 1 - GENERAL 1.

01 Description This Section covers providing formwork for concrete WORK and installation into formwork of items, such as anchor bolts, setting plates, bearing plates, anchorages, inserts, frames, sleeves, nosings and other items, including items furnished under other Sections of these Construction Specifications, to be embedded in concrete, complete and acceptable to Company Representative. 1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE Reference Codes and Standards: Comply with applicable SAUDI ARAMCO Engineering Standards, and Codes and Standards as specified herein. 1.03 DESIGN Design of formwork is the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR. Conform to ACI 301, 318 and 347. When designing forms for long spans where intermediate supports are not possible, figure anticipated form deflection due to weight of fresh concrete. 1.04 SUBMITTALS A. Manufacturers Data: 1. Submit to Company Representative for approval the manufacturers data and installation instructions for materials including form coatings, maufactured form systems, ties and accessories.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. B. Plywood Forms: APA grade-trademarked, USPS PS 1, B-B Plyform, Exterior Type, Class I, sealed edges, mill oiled and not less than 15 mm thick. Lumber Forms: Sound lumber of uniform thickness, dressed, tongue and grooved, free from loose knots and of such moisture content as to prevent free absorption of moisture. Chamfer Strips: Shall be placed at all edges and corners of beams and pedestals which will be exposed in the finished WORK even though not shown on the Construction Drawings. Metal Forms: Type subject to Company Representative approval. SECTION 03100

Form Oil: Non-staining type which will allow field applied paints to adhere to concrete surfaces without failing. Form Sealer: Type subject to Company Representatives approval. Form Accessories: Form ties, anchors and hangers of sufficient strength to completely resist displacement of forms due to construction loads and depositing of concrete. Provide tie and spreader type form ties designed so that no metal will be within 25 mm of any surface when forms are removed. Where concrete surfaces are exposed to view, do not use form ties which, when removed, will leave a depression larger than 25 mm in diameter. Use water seal ties in concrete exposed to hydrostatic pressure. Screed Chairs: Metal; wood not permitted.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 PREPARATORY WORK Prior to any concrete is poured, forms shall be thoroughly cleaned of all sticks, boards, loose rocks, sand or other debris, and wetted down with clean water to the satisfaction of Company Representative. In tall narrow forms "window" shall be provided on the bottom for cleaning out the forms. 3.02 ERECTION A. B. General: Except as otherwise specified or shown on the Construction Drawings, place all concrete in temporary forms. Location 1. Plywood Forms: Erect plywood forms at surfaces exposed to view and elsewhere unless directed by Company Representative at CONTRACTOR's option. Forms for precast panels, refer to Section-03730, Precast Concrete. Lumber Forms: Use only at surfaces not exposed to view. Metal Forms: approval. Location(s) subject to Company Representative's

Provide bracing to ensure stability of formwork. Shore or strengthen formwork subject to over stressing by construction loads.

Construction 1. Forms shall conform to the shape, lines and dimensions of the members as shown on the Construction Drawings, and shall be substantial and sufficiently tight to prevent leakage of mortar. Material for exposed surfaces shall be surfaced boards, plywood or material previously approved by Company Representative. Forms shall be properly braced or tied together by standard accessories, so as to maintain position and shape during placing and curing of concrete. Chamfer strips shall be placed at all edges and corners of beams and columns which will be exposed in the finished WORK, even though not shown on the Construction Drawings. Wall forms shall be built in lifts of sufficient height to accommodate only one continuous pour. Falsework to support forms shall have sufficient strength to carry the load without deformation or settlement. Inserts, Anchors and Sleeves: Install all inserts, anchors and sleeves, including those required and provided by other trades. Screeds: Set screeds to proper elevations to facilitate placement of concrete.

2. 3. 3.03 REMOVAL

Removal of forms is subject to Company Representative's approval. 3.04 TOLERANCES Unless otherwise shown on the Construction Drawings, erect formwork to the tolerances specified in ACI 347 and ACI-301, Chapter 4. 3.05 Replace or repair damage materials and defective WORK as directed by Company Representative at no additional cost to SAUDI ARAMCO.
