1. Define the three sectors of industry? The three sectors of industry are: Primary, Secondary and Tertiary. 1.

The primary sector in an industry could be anything from harvesting or extracting good/products from the earth. This includes the production of raw material and other basics like food. Mining, herding, forestry, fishing, gathering food. Thos eare the activities that is related to the primary sector of the industry. 2. The secondary sector is everything from processing to manufacturing finished goods. This also includes construction. Activities related to the secondary sector are chemical and engineering industries, automobile production, textile production, energy utilities, construction and shipbuilding. 3. The tertiary sector is everything that is not raw material and processary. This sector provides services to businesses and general population. Activities related to this sector are; transport, ware housing, shops, restaurants, media, insurance, banking and entertainment.

2. Explain the relationship between primary and secondary sectors in the oil and gas industry? In the primary sector of oil and gas industry, people with the right qualification are necessary as they find and analyse the geology, geophysics or petro physics. When the location of extraction is identified it needs someone with architectural skills. Designing and maintaining equipment. On the other hand in the secondary sector of oil and gas industry is where the next stage of the process is done. Same as the primary sector people with the right skills are needed in order for the product to reach markets. This includes transportation oil and gas from the drilling site by pipelines. Product development is important to assure that much of the resources is turned into usable products as much as possible. So the primary sector depends on the secondary sector in order to complete the next stage of the production.

3. Suggest roles within the oil and gas industry that would be suitable for school leavers, graduates and postgraduates? it depends on the qualifications you have. If you are a school leaver then you would go apprenticeship and do whatever you role youre interested in. For graduates and post graduates the same rule applies to them as the school leavers. Eg, if said person have qualifications for maths and economics degree, Then he/she would have to work at analysing gas markets. So it all depends on the qualifications you have and your role.

4. To what extent could the activities carried out in the primary sector be considered the most important within the oil and gas industry? In my opinion very important, although without the secondary sector it wouldnt be possible for the raw materials to be made into gas or oil.
