RWD Info Pak Help Launchpad Requirements (for SAP only)

RWD Info Pak - Help Launchpad is typically installed via the transport of a custom ABAP routine into the SAP Development region of SAP and then migrated to Production. Pre-SAP 4.5B systems require manual installation. SAP 4.5B backend systems support custom Help from the SAP GUI Help menu but do not support the following RWD Info Pak 5 features: alerts and auto notifications. Pre-4.5B SAP backend systems support custom help from the SAP GUI Help menu but do not support the following RWD Info Pak 5 features: statistics, alerts, auto notifications, and auto upload. The custom ABAP routine is invoked directly from the standard SAP Help pull-down menu. This configuration requires minor modification (single line entry) of the standard help menu and associated algorithm (standard SAP menu program MENU_SYST and function module HELP_START). An optional modification is required to the Navigation Execute Object Help function module to enable the alert and auto notification capabilities. "Stay-on-top" functionality of the user documentation delivered by Help Launchpad is available from the SAP and SAP HTML GUIs for Windows-based clients. Two methods exist for providing stayon-top functionality. One method uses a Microsoft Visual Basic application to launch the browser. This Visual Basic application must reside on a Windows-based server on the Intranet/LAN or on the users' Windows-based PCs. The other method uses an ActiveX

control that is downloaded to the client computer. Unix-based clients can call custom help, but cannot deploy the stay-on-top view of the documentation. Disk Space and Server Sizes

RWD Info Pak generates Microsoft Word documents and the associated output files from these source documents (cue cards, quick references, work instructions, etc.). Additionally, RWD Info Pak allows you to create custom documentation formats sizing for these types of documents is entirely dependent on your templates and documentation standards. RWD Info Pak parent source documents - The source files should be estimated at 1-3 MB per document (assuming that the preference to include screen shots is turned on). These files are typically generated on the authors hard drive, and then moved to a network file server. Output files HTML and PDF output from the source documents is smaller and typically created on the same network file server and then copied to an Intranet web server. The typical output of an HTML cue card and a PDF work instruction requires about 50% of the disk space of the source parent document. Example: 1,000 recorded parent documents, with screen shots, would require 1-3 GB of disk space for the source documentation. Depending on the output formats chosen, the web server space required for the output is approximately 1-2 GB. Web server specifications are dependent upon the number of users, volume of hits, desired response times, and network infrastructure.
