Jumaa Prayer

for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

5 July 2013

West Africa Advanced School of Theology

Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!

So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, 'It is through faith that a righteous person has life' (Ga 3:11, NLT). Ramadan, the month of fasting, begins on Tuesday. Muslims keep the fast to earn righteousness. Pray that they will see that faith in Jesus alone will please God and lead to Paradise.*

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students, Alumni, and Missionaries

BENIN: An alumnus writes, I would like you to pray for the people of Benin, that after President Yayi Boni, the power does not fall into the hands of a fanatical Muslim. President Yayi has served since 2006 and as a Christian has strongly supported the Church. However, Islam is growing and Muslims are increasingly involved in politics. Boni cannot be reelected in 2016. NIGER: A missionary asks us to pray for peace in Niger. Pray for guidance for the government leaders as they struggle with the problem of terrorists, and for wisdom and guidance for the Assemblies of God of Niger.

In the News
Beginning this past Monday, UN peacekeeping troops are being deployed to Mali. African troops already there will become part of this force, which is slated to grow to 12,600 troops by the end of the year. Some will go to the north, and others to Bamako in preparation for the 28 July presidential election. A student from Mali just received this report from the Bible school director in Bamako, who is originally from Gao in the north. The director recently returned to Gao to assess the situation. While there he was able to broadcast 3 radio programs and was surprised by the positive response as people called in. He believes that once stabilizing forces have come, the pastor and members should return and reopen the church as quickly as possible. Please pray that this will happen, that the Spirit will give strength and courage to Christian workers to return to the north with the message of Hope that people desperately need. Pray that the Lord will use these troops to allow His work to move forward.

From Global Initiative**

Pray for Druze Muslims in Lebanon seeking to know more about God. The Druze hold to a mystical form of Islam and follow the Koran as well as their own book of wisdom. They are scattered throughout Lebanon, Syria, and Israel, and feel a kinship with other Druze despite their different nationalities. As the war in Syria affects their community, pray that in the midst of unrest and fear they will find and share the true peace Jesus offers. Learn more at http://bit.ly/14tZJFP.

For Muslim Women***

Pray for Christian women who engage in Business as Mission among the Muslims that they mean to reach. Pray that their works will prosper and that their message will take root in the lives of Muslim women.
