Jumaa Prayer

for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

19 July 2013

West Africa Advanced School of Theology

Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak... (Is 40:29). In the oil-rich nations of the Arabian Peninsula, many families hire servants from other countries. Many of these are Christian. Pray they will be filled with the Lord's strength and wisdom as they have opportunities to affect these families.*

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni

GHANA: A student (from a Muslim background) notes that in the churches, compassion to reach out to Muslims is lacking, which is of great concern as Islam grows. Please pray that the Lord will open the eyes of His people to their lost neighbors and to ways of reaching out to them. One great need is for an open door of refuge, a place for Muslims to come when they find Jesus and lose their place in their family. He cites the case of a young lady who has accepted the Lord and was forced to leave home, but has nowhere to goexcept to the home of her boyfriend. Please pray for this young lady and others like her who need to be surrounded by those who can help them grow in their faith. MALI: Please pray for the upcoming presidential elections, to be held 28 July. A student says, Pray that the elections take place in calm conditions. Pray that the Lord gives us a 'Cyrus'even if he is not a Christiansomeone who is favorable to secular government [as opposed to an Islamic government, thus allowing other faiths to exist]. SENEGAL: The Serere people have been the most open to the gospel; most of the believers in Senegal are Serere. A student asks us to pray that the Lord would call more Serere Christians to go and plant churches in other regions of the country. Pray that God would meet the needs of the few who are in the Bible school and call others to join them. May He give them His vision and equip them with His power to reach out to those who have not heard.

From Global Initiative**

Please pray for national churches across the Muslim world as they continue training Christian leaders. Pray that these workers become firmly discipled in God's Word and filled with the power of His Spirit. Pray that the Lord will put a burning desire in their hearts to befriend and reach out to Muslims around them, despite the seeming rejection and even persecution.

For Muslim Women

Pray for Syrian women and girls who have fled the war hoping to find safety in refugees camps in Jordan. Within the camps they face sexual abuse and the temptation to go into prostitution to support themselves. Rape victims, not the aggressors, are stigmatized, so some teen girls are married off to protect their honor; others are essentially sold because the family is too poor to support them. Pray that they will have an opportunity to hear about Jesus, that the Lord will use His people, dreams, or other means to show them the true love He offers. Pray that the Lord will heal the hearts and bodies of these precious girls.
