Welder(s) have been issued job clearance card (JCC) and that range of qualficiation shown matches the application of inspector highlight any special requirement listed in the spec, drawing and NDT. Contractor has prepared detailed shop fabrication drawings with the latest revision approved and are available at work place all joints shall be marked with identification. The inspector verifies the drawing number,weld number, welder symbol, wps number,fit up sign and date. And requirement of preheat with a weatherproof marker on a visible location.

The QC inspector shall verify that all details are adjesent to the weld. The QC inspector shall verify that the welding equipment are calibrated.(Sch Q requires a 6 month interval). BS 7570 is used for validation if charpy impact testing are specified

the joint should be free from oil, rust, moisture paint(except weldable primers) and mettalic coatings for at least 25 mm adjacent to the weld joint. All tack weld shall be made by qualified welder

16 Tack weld shall be sufficient size to maintain joint alignment . The recommendation tack thickness is 3.2-4.8mm and the 17 length 21.5-25.4mm Bridge tack (Located above the root area) are accpeted but such tack must be made completely within the groove and 18 shall be removed prior to completioon of the weld

Wind shields or tents are installed when the wind is strong 19 enough to affect arc stability or shielding gas coverage Butt joint misalingment shall not exceed 3 mm. internal tapering by grinding, backwelding or a combination may be 20 used to correct the misalingment.(tubular joints where acceseble) 21 Filler metal size, type and classification conform with the WPS. Buttering or weld build up on the prepared surfaces shall not exeed the lesser of 1/3 thk of the base metal or 10 mm whichever is less. If the buttering exceeds this the following requirement shall apply: a) the buttering operation shall be witnessed by saudi aramco inspector. b) the buttering shall be inspected by PT or MT.
